Prince of Persia: The Lost Crownhasa lot going for it. It is coming into a world still waiting forSilksong, it has a fun stylized art style, and it has some very polished gameplay mechanics. The exploration part of the game is especially fun, as it is witha lot of Metroidvanias.

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown - Which Difficulty To Choose?

Tinker with the settings to find what’s best for you!

One of theintegral gameplayelements in the game isAthra Surges. These are essentially super moves that the player can unleash after landing a couple of normal hits on an enemy and charging up their Athra meter. However, the player can only havetwo Athra Surges equipped at a time, meaning you’ll want to equip the ones that are best suited for your playstyle.

10Shahbaz' Spirit

Highly Situational

One of theonly aerial attacksavailable to players in the game, other than the bow and chakram, Shahbaz' spirit is anextremely situationalAthra Surge. It is a level one surge, meaning you’ll need your meter topped up to at least level one to deploy the upward slash.

The problem with Shahbaz' Spirit is the direction of the attack. Most enemies in the game aren’t airborne and won’t be near the splash zone of the surge. However, this ability is veryusefulwhen exploringselect areasof the game, such as the Upper Citadelwhere airborne enemies populate the skyline.

9Bahman’s Breath

Redundant Healing

Bahman’s Surge is aLevel 2Athra Surge thatheals the player. It creates azoneof healing when cast within which the player can recover health at a fairlyfast rate, meaning you’ll recover all of your health before the surge runs out. At first glance, it might sound like a great idea to have a surge that can heal the player for all of their health in their arsenal. However, that would be a mistake.

After a couple of upgrades, players will havemultiple health flasksthat can do the same thing, and it’s not even that important to top off your health at all times. Most of the game is about exploring, andboss battleswill give you back all your health and potion charges after you lost to them once.

8Verethragna’s Smite

Suffering From Better Options

The first Surgethat the players will gain is Verethragna’s Smite. This isn’t a particularly amazing Surge, but it’s not bad either. When activated, the player will rush forward and execute a powerful attack that will kill most mobs.

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown - All Lost Warrior Locations

If you’re trying to find all Lost Warriors in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, this guide can help!

It’s a great way toquickly close distanceto bosses and start another combo to deal a large amount of damage, but it’s not the best option out there for linking attacks and dealing a lot of damage. As soon as you find something a bit better, you should switch.

7Vayu’s Wave

Good Ranged Option

Vayu’s Wave is aLevel 1Athra Surge that fires aprojectile wavetowards your enemies. This wave goes through them, damaging enemies in its path. Vayu’s Wave doesn’t deal a lot of damage, but it is one of thebest AoE attacksin the games, covering a very wide area. However, keep in mind that the attack can be interrupted, so be careful when using it.

Obtaining Vayu’s Wave isn’t hard, requiring you to complete a handful of challenges from Artaban in the central hub of the game. This Surge helps you get rid of enemies easily without having to get up close and personal with them.

6Hadhayans' Might

Slam Down With Impudence

For aLevel 2Athra Surge, Hadhayan’s Might is abit underwhelming, but it’s good enough in many situations. When used, the playerteleportsinto the air andslams downwith enough force to obliterate most enemies, though elites might survive the ordeal.

It looks flashy and feels great, but doesn’t necessarily have the best effect. It’s an okay Athra Surge, but it’s not something that will wow you with its performance. The AoE combined with the high damage make it worth it in many cases.

5Arash’s Ray

Good Ranged Option, Version Two

Arash’s Ray lets the player fire asuper-powered arrowin any direction, piercing through enemies and dealing a significant amount of damage. You can obtain it during a main story mission, the Tiger And Rat, in the lower caverns of Mount Qaf.

It’s better than Vayu’s wave because itdamages enemies behind other enemiesas well, and it hasbetter directional control, letting you hit jumping or flying enemies as well. However, it is aLevel 2Surge, so you’re able to’t use it as often.

4Bahamut’s Rage

Toy With Giants

Once you clear theraging sea biome, you will unlock Bahamut’s Rage, an Athra Surge thatlifts enemiesup into the air andslams themback down. Thearea of effectfor this ability is fairly large, doing damage to a lot of enemies in your vicinity, and it deals enough damage to get rid of them entirely most of the time, even the tougher mobs.

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Should Inspire AAA Devs To Make More Metroidvanias

Metroidvanias have long been an genre favoured by indies, but The Lost Crown could change that.

Although there is a high cost associated with Bahamut’s Rage, since it’s aLevel 3Athra Surge, it justifies itself based on the number of enemies it damages. It’s not necessarily a great choice when exploring the map, but it can help players farm enemies for loot in certain locations.

3Rashnu’s Judgment

Blanket Counter

Rashnu’s Judgment is one of the best abilities to have equipped when you’refighting a boss. When performed, the Athra Surge cancounter any attack, even unblockable ones. This is great for when you’re fighting a boss and aren’t quite sure about their attack patterns yet.

As aLevel 3Athra Surge, there isn’t much other use for the ability. It takes a lot of damage to ready, and it only deals damage to a single enemy, meaning it’s a bad idea to use it on a normal mob. However, the amount of damage it deals to bosses makes it worth equipping when you expect to fight one.

2Soul Of Gilgamesh

Become Immortal

Soul Of Gilgamesh is a must-have if you’re looking to have a good time. When triggered, it will make the playerfaster, stronger, and much more fluid. All the attacks are faster, arrows leave your bow faster, and you almost teleport when dashing.

The downside is the fact that it’s a fairly late game acquisition, so you won’t be able to feel its greatness until much later into your campaign. Furthermore, it’s aLevel 3Surge, meaning you’ll have to bide your time before you can activate it.

1Wind Of Sistan

Well Worth The Athra

Within the realm ofLevel 1Athra Surges, nothing comes close to beating Wind of Sistan. When deployed, the player will unleash a storm of blades in a circle around them, trapping enemies within it for a certain period of time and dealing a decent amount of damage.

The best part about his ability is that itaffects mobs and bosses equally. The blades stagger the enemies, stopping them from leaving or doing any action. Meanwhile, the player can deal damage to the enemies as much as they like, at least until the duration of the Surge runs out. Chain together three of them without letting up, and you’ve removed half of the boss' HP out of the picture already.
