One of the biggest surprise announcements made during the summer 2025 Xbox Games Showcase was for Beast of Reincarnation, an upcoming futuristic samurai game made byPokemondeveloperGame Freak, and it’s coming toPS5andXbox Series X/S.
It’s a common misconception thatNintendoowns the Pokemon franchise. It’s actually owned by The Pokemon Company, which consists of three different entities: Nintendo, Creatures Inc., and Game Freak. This means Game Freak is free to make titles for other platforms, even though it spends the bulk of its time on Pokemon.

8 Best Classic Xbox Games On Game Pass
From Gears of War to Ninja Gaiden, these are the best classic Xbox games available on Xbox Game Pass.
It seems that Game Freak is branching out from theworld of pocket monstersfor a change. Game Freak is working on a title called Beast of Reincarnation, whose trailer was shown during the Xbox Games Showcase, and is now available on the Xbox YouTube channel.

Beast Of Reincarnation Is Game Freak’s Next Non-Pokemon Title
Beast of Reincarnation is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5 in 2026. What’s notable about the announcement is that it wasn’tconfirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s possible that it will be revealed for Nintendo’s beefier hardware further down the road.
The trailer is set in the year 4026, with humanity at the edge of extinction, being hunted by giant monsters and robots. The only hope is a samurai named Emma the Sealer, who seemingly is the only person with the ability to permanently slay the creatures stalking the land.

Beast of Reincarnation has impressive visuals, with a gameplay style more reminiscent ofMonster Hunterthan Game Freak’s usual fare. Chances are, the Pokemon diehards are mad at Game Freak shifting its attention to something other than Pikachu, but a change of pace could be good for the company. Pokemon is in dire need of a shake-up, and maybe working on a current-gen title with more adult themes will lead to the next Pokemon gamenot looking like trash.
