The original game, released in 1998 on the Nintendo 64, has developed a cult ever since. A return would be enough to set the entire fandom ablaze, and people have started getting their hopes up.

It all started when people spotted a tweet from gaming journalist Jez Corden, who tweeted about wanting to learn the banjo out of nowhere.

As if doubling down on the ‘hint,’ Kinda Funny’s Parris replied to Corden’s tweet with a GIF of the beloved characters. This sealed the deal, and people couldn’t help keeping hope about a possible franchise revival.

Corden even played along with the folks taking his tweet to be some kind of hint. Although, this tweet makes it seem more like he was playing along in jest, rather than seriously foreshadowing something happening.

Many people played along or showed serious interest and hoped that the game would make a comeback soon. With the Xbox showcase happening very soon, one can dream.

Another hint has given people enough cause to believe the 1998 hit is coming back.
Toys for Bob used to be under Activision and was one of the studios whose employees called for Bobby Kotick’s resignation. When Microsoft acquired Activision-Blizzard, Toys for Bob naturally came under the larger company’s wing.

By that time, the studio had released several remakes for classic franchises, likeCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogyand theSpyro Reignited Trilogy.
Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, publicly commented that he hoped to see the studio revive older game IPs. Everyone thought this idea was cut short when Toys for Bob split from the company and went independent earlier this year.
