Bethesda opened up the new year with a new blog post forFallout 76which outlined the plans they have for future content which includes player vending and a new PvP mode.
In a short post toBethesda.net, the developer laid out that more details on the next bigFallout 76update would come later this month, and will be similar to theirDecember 11 updatethat brought improvements to the C.A.M.P. mechanic such as removing small obstructions and notifications for when your C.A.M.P. location is occupied by another player when logging onto a different server. The update also allowed for S.P.E.C.I.A.L. re-speccing for post-level 50 players, a push to talk voice chat key on PC and many other small details. It appears this January update will be mostly centered on technical issues as they mention that it, “will address many of the issues you’ve been providing feedback on.”
Future updates are teased with minimal description, “new quests, weekly in-game events, new Vaults opening, a new PvP mode, Player Vending and much more.” Player vending is one of the biggest, as this means players will be able to set up shop and sell their collected items and loot to other players for monetary gain. Whether this will be similar to MMO economies in which players can put up items online for anyone to purchase or will be limited to the current server has yet to be confirmed.
Currently PvP is only active when a player shoots at another and that player returns fire, beginning a PvP mechanic that allows players to damage and kill each other. Otherwise, shooting at another player who is not returning fire will do minimal damage, though this has not stopped players fromharassingothers in-game. New quests, in-game events, and Vaults to explore means more content, though whether or not that will improve the overall experience ofFallout 76remains dubious. The new year also brought new issues, as in-gamenuke codes became inaccessibletemporarily due to an issue with accessing the nuclear silos that launch the end-game content creators.
