Phil Spencer has been the head of Microsoft Gaming for nearly a decade and has significantly contributed to the expansion and global presence of Xbox. However, not all of Spencer’s ideas were well received, and the memory of the gaming community is not to be trifled with.

The game industry has been through many changes since recent innovations from the previous console generation were discovered, which gave studio heads ambitious ideas. Spencer and Microsoft went on an aggressive acquisition spree and now own Bethesda Game Studios and all future projects.

“Reminder Starfield was crucified for this”: PS5’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Getting Destroyed, and the Console Wars Are Back
The recent announcement ofIndiana Jones and the Great Circlecoming to the PlayStation 5 a few months after the release on the native platform is another one of his false promises of ending first-party ports.
Fans expected the upcoming game to be shared with rival companies but did not anticipate it this soon. Those in attendance during the reveal at Gamescom 2024 shared their reactions, and some fans are convinced that nothing from Spencer can be trusted after this turn of events.

Spencer has a lot to answer for, and the gaming community is running out of faith in him after consistently failing to keep his word. Perhaps this is a rare situation that has nothing to do with Spencer and could involve an external agreement with Disney and Lucasfilm.

Nevertheless, this is not ideal for the Xbox brand. The company may have superior hardware, but its lack of quality first-party exclusives is the problem, and rather than keep what little Spencer has left for the console, they are giving it away.

Spencer is losing all his credibility and the trust of the fans, and the future of Xbox is now in peril. Platform supporters are on the shorter end of the stick again.
