According toCD Projekt Red(CDPR), the recently announced Phantom Liberty expansion forCyberpunk 2077will be the game’s only expansion.
This revelation came as a result of a developer comment on the official upload of the expansion’s teaser trailer. An enthusiastic fan commented on the video, saying that they hoped more expansions would be coming in the future. In response, the CDPR brand account replied saying “Glad to hear we sparked your interest! As for the future, Phantom Liberty is the only planned expansion for Cyberpunk 2077."

This isn’t entirely surprising considering the studio will likely be switching its focus to developing the previously announced next instalment in the Witcher series. While saying nothing is planned is not the same as confirming it will never happen, a publicly traded company like CDPR generally has a pretty firm grasp on its immediate future.
Phantom Liberty was announced yesterday (September 7) during a special episode of Night City Wire. While the stream was focused on the upcoming Cyberpunk anime, Edgerunners, it was also teased that “what’s next for Cyberpunk 2077” would be announced. CDPR fulfilled this promise with the release of a teaser trailer.
The teaser trailer involved the game’s protagonist V swearing an oath to the New United States of America. Notably, actor Keanu Reeves appeared following the trailer to announce the return of Johnny Silverhand in the expansion. Phantom Liberty will take place in a brand-new area of Night City and will be a “spy-thriller” according to the description of the trailer. Phantom Liberty does not yet have an official release date, but it is planned to release sometime in 2023.
The expansion will be limited to the current-generation release of the title, meaning Phantom Liberty will be launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Google Stadia. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases will not be receiving the expansion.
CD Projekt Red has been contacted to confirm if Phantom Liberty will be the sole expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
