Persona 5 Tacticaadapts many elements from the original game into the new Tactics-style combat system. While there aren’t elemental weaknesses for enemies, each element does have additional effects beyond just the damage.

While every character’s Persona specializes in one element, Sub Personas let any character utilize any skill and element. Even without elemental weaknesses, branching out and covering multiple elements is important to have multiple options for completing specific quests and missions throughout the game.

Whenever targeting an enemy with an elemental ability,the target will not only be hurt by the attack but will also be affected by that element’s special effect.Each Phantom Thief’s Persona specializes in one element, and will usually be the most efficient at utilizing that element’s effects.
Burnknocks back enemies slightlywhile also dealingslight damage to a burned enemy on their next turn.

Curse/Dispair
Affected targets areunable to move the next turn,and theirmovement distance is added to the caster’s next turn,letting them move much further than usual.
Nuke/Vortex
Thetargeted enemy becomes the center of a vortex that pulls nearby enemies closerto the center.
Wind/Sweep
Affected targets arepushed away from the caster and over cover,into enemies to damage bothif they’re in the path.
Electric/Shock
Shocked enemies areunable to move the next turnbut still able to perform an action.
Psyco/Hypno
Affected enemiesmove towards the caster,over cover if necessary to get as close as possible.
Ice/Freeze
Affected enemies areunable to move or act for their next turn.
Light/Dizzy
Affected enemies willmake a random move next turnin any direction but can still perform an action as usual.

Every Status Effect Explained
While elemental abilities are reworked, status effects have mostly stayed the same from the previous game, just slightly altered to theTactics-style gameplay.
While asleep, a target isunable to move or act but will regenerate HP and SPfor each turn they are asleep.

Affected targets arestill able to move but forget all of their actions and won’t attackfor that turn.
