To unlock a Fusion Spell, the required Personasonly need tobe summoned onceso that they are in the Compendium.Once there, they are summoned during the Fusion spell even when not actively summoned. In battle, players are given complete freedom on which Fusion Spells are used and how many times they are used,without any limitations.

Charging The Protagonist’s Theurgy
The Protagonist’sTheurgyischarged up every time he switches his Persona in combat.Ultimately, his Theurgy can charge up by only having two different Personas and switching between them each turn. It’s best to have a wide range of Personas to verify you always have a strong ability to hit an enemy’s weakness, evenhaving Personas with the same skills so you can switch and still repeat an attack.Like other characters, the Protagonist will also earnTheurgy energy by hitting weaknesses and generally fighting in combat,but at a slower rate than switching Personas.
