Where To Get Berry Seeds
Red Berries will be a verycommon food sourcein the earlier parts of the game. If you look at youroptions for a starting location, you will see thatMarsh Island will be a particularly abundantsource of these berries — and you will need a lot of them if you plan to makeplenty of Cakesin the game. Whenever you see a bushel of berries around,get to gatheringso you can add bothRed Berries and Red Berry Seedsto your inventory. These Seeds will be a vital part ofincreasing the rate at which you get these berries.

How To Grow Berries At Your Base
Now that you have some Red Berry Seeds, you will need to plant them in order to get aconstant flow of Red Berries growingat your base. Firstly, you will need a Berry Plantation. This will be available in yourTechnology tab. You will need to progress through this tab up toTier 5before you are able to unlock the Berry Plantation byspending Technology Points. Once unlocked, you can build one of these Plantations using3 Berry Seeds, 20 Wood, and 20 Stone.
A good idea is to build your Plantations close to where you do your cooking. This allows your base to stay organized and streamline your crafting process.
Now that you have a Berry Plantation set up, you may use yourPals to make things go a lot fasterby putting them to work. You will see Pals have manydifferent Work Suitabilities. For automating your Berry Plantation, the suitabilities you will want to focus on arePlanting, Watering, and Gathering. Planting Pals will sow the seeds of your crops, Watering Pals will water these seeds so the plants can grow, and Gathering Pals will harvest the yield for the process to start over again. Be sure to have thehighest levels of these Suitabilitiesat your bases to optimize the process. Don’t forget tohave some nearby chestsfor Pals to put your harvested berries in.
There is a Pal called Caprity. You can put some of these Pals into a Ranch to farm Red Berries from then if you want to boost the rate you get Red Berries. Once you have a surplus, you can swap these Pals out of your Ranch for different Pals. This allows your Planting, Watering, and Gathering Pals to focus solely on other kinds of crops, giving you a lot more control over your resources.

Best Pals To Work Your Plantation
Different Pals will havedifferent Work Suitabilities listedfor them at different levels.Lv 4 is the highestthat these can be, so getting these Pals will mean an optimal workflow. Thebest Pal forPlanting your fields is Lyleen, but in addition to Planting, this pal will also have Handiwork andMedicine Production at Lv3, and Gathering at Lv 2. Making this a great base Pal all-rounder.When it comes to Watering, no Pal will do a better job thanJormuntidethanks to itsLv 4 WateringWork Suitability. Finally, when it comes to Gathering,Frostallion Noct has this Work Suitability at LV 4.
Some Lv 2 candidatesto be on the look for areCaprity for Planting, Penking for Watering, and Nitewing for Gathering. Nitewing will also make for agreat flying mount, while Caprity can be put to work at yourRanch for farmingRed Berries. A good choice for yourplantations is also Verdash, as this Pal also has Handiwork at Lv 3, Planting at Lv 2, Lumbering at Lv 2, and Transporting at Lv 2. This makes them another great all-rounder. These are pretty late-game options, so seeking out early-game options is a good call.
You can havemultiple bases with different goals, such as a base dedicated to thebest of your Mining Palsto get youplenty of oreusing the best location for the job — this ensures you willhave all the Ingotsyou could ever need. Another base can beall about farming on Ranches, and so on. However,all of these bases should have a Plantationto make sure all of your hard-working pals can stay well-fed at all times.
