Their creativity knows no bounds.

99 Slayer isn’t often something people grind out; it’s something that comes naturallythrough the training of your combat skills. After all, Slayer is more of a supplementary skill than one you can focus on.

Naturally, if you want this experience to go more smoothly, players can choose to avoid certain monstersthey don’t enjoy by paying 100 points at a Slayer Master.

If you want the most XP possible, to make this journey somewhat more bearable, this guide will suggest some of the monsters you may want to avoid.

Always prioritize fun over efficiency. You will burn out faster if you’re not enjoying the tasks.

OSRS Block List

Ins and Outs of the Block List

First, let’s cover the list itself. Right from the get-go, players will have five slots available to block unwanted tasks. A sixth slot will open up once you earn 300 quest points, and aseventh when you complete the Lumbridge Elite Diary.

Grabbing yourself the Quest Cape should honestly be one of the prioritiesforanyone looking to sink serious time into OSRS, which means you should have six slots by this time. Diaries, on the other hand, can give some great benefits as well as a hefty chunk of XP.

OSRS Hellhound

For the purposes of this guide, I will assume 7 slots are open and that Duradel is the Slayer Master of choice. Or Kuradel if you’ve completed While Guthix Sleeps. This guide is in no particular order.

Hellhounds

Slayer Task weight: 10

Hellhounds are the first to cover one of the most important points that the majority of the creatures on this list share. To maximize XP,we want to avoid single-target monstersand focus on things we can either use a cannon on or we can Ice Burst/Ice Barrage.

While Hellhounds can be nice and AFK and the Slayer Boss has some great drops, like the Primordial Crystal, in terms of XP,this will only slow us down.

OSRS Cave Kraken

In addition, Hellhounds don’t have any drops, save for the occasional clue, Ensouled Head, or extremely rare Smoldering Stone. You will almost always lose money on this task.

Cave Krakens

Slayer Task Weight: 9

Cave Krakens, like Hellhounds, have a very high Slayer Task Weight, which meansyou’re going to be seeing these a lot more oftenwhen rolling for a new task. The block list is perfect for thesehigh-weight, slow XP monsters.

Cave Krakens also cannot be killed with melee or range, leaving you to slay them with a single target magic weapon like a Trident of the Swamp.

How to update Runelite

This is particularly slow, and due to their rather weak drop table, won’t earn you much GP in the long run.

Black Dragons

Black Dragons have a lot of Hitpoints and can be rather awkward to kill, requiring you to bring anAnti-Dragonfire shield or an Antifire Potion.

In addition, for efficiency, you need to use a Dragon Hunter Lance, which is a very expensive weapon, if only used for Slayer.

Duradel will only request 10-20 of these dragons to be killed, which is the opposite of what we want. We are looking for monsterswe can kill a lot of in the same locationto maximize XP gains.

While the Dragon Bones are nice for Prayer XP, many better monsters drop more regular and expensive loot.

Monsters like Dust Devils and Nechryaels are great because they can be multi-targeted with Ice Spells, and these tasks can be prolonged with a Task Extension from a Slayer Master. The loot also covers the cost of the spells.

Greater Demons & Black Demons

Slayer Task weight: 9 & 8, respectively

These monsters should both be blocked for similar reasons. They are single-target, high-weight tasks with a very poor loot table.

Also, Duradel assigns a lot of these to kill, usually around 130-200, so you’re going to be stuckfighting these for a long time, and not getting a lot of XP.

One thing to mention is that, more often than not, you may struggle to find a world or find yourself battling another player who is trying to steal your spot and crash you.

For Ironmen, these creatures could be considered usefulas a lot of other monsters in the game share the Demon title, allowing for the Slayer Helm to be used, alongside an Emberlight.

K’ril Tsutsaroth, Tormented Demons, and Demonic Gorillas all drop crucial itemsfor those without access to the Grand Exchange.

Spiritual Creatures

Slayer Task Weight: 7

While these monsters don’t have a particularly high weight, they are some of themost boring and infuriating things to kill in the game. Located in the God Wars Dungeon, these Slayer mobs are annoying to get to and have a terrible loot table to back them up.

Anyone who has been to the GWD knows that without wearing specific God-Alligned gear, you’re going to beconstantly targeted and attacked by monsters you’re trying to avoid.

So save yourself the hassle, and unless you’re looking for a pair of Dragon Boots, these will be on the list forever.

In my experience, these were the first Slayer monsters that I blocked, and I’ve never taken them off, to this day. 100 points well spent!

Steel Dragons

Realistically, these dragons can be replaced with any of the metal dragons. Of course, these are some of the most deadlyand take the longest to try to kill.

Steel dragons, similar to Black Dragons, only have small kill requests, and yetsometimes take multiple trips if you get unlucky.

Along with a brutal dragonfire attack, they also have a particularly nasty melee, which means you have to pray Protect from Melee and Piety for the majority of the kill.

Recently, with the implementation of Project Rebalance, they have become weak to Earth Spells, but this doesn’t speed up the task too much.

Ultimately, they have bad loot tables, deal a lot of damage, and have very high defenses, which means you won’t be getting much XP in the long run.

Don’t bother unlocking Mithril Dragons from your Slayer Master. They are also very slow to kill.
