As PlayStation and Shift Up’sStellar Bladegears for its release, the game continues to stay a hot topic. And quite naturally, it doesn’t seem like the discussions are stopping anytime soon after the release as well.

A major topic of these discussions is the protagonist of the game, Eve. By now, the world knows that the female protagonist is designed after a famous Korean model named Shin Jae-eun. The developers even faced backlash from some users for “oversexualizing” the character.
Stellar Bladedirector reveals the reason behind Eve’s design
During aninterview with PushSquare,Game Director Hyung-Tae Kim was asked about Eve’s character design. He was asked if the news about the character being inspired by a real-life model was true. The game director confirmed the claim, saying.
“Yes, we did base the character of Eve on the model Shin Jae-eun. We thought that her body shape would be a good reference for the character that we were pursuing. But the face was created originally in-house – it’s just the body of the model that we scanned for the game.”

He was also asked why theyselected Shin Jae-eunin particular for Eve. To this, he says,
“Of course, it depends on how you define beautiful bodies, but for us we wanted to come up with the most attractive looking body for the user, so this is why we made the decision to work with her.”

In another interview, the devs also admitted that while designing Eve, they paidspecial attention to the backsideof the character. Kim explained, that the game will be played from a third-person perspective. Thus, when players are playingStellar Blade, they will see the back of the character most of the time. This ultimately makes it necessary that the back looks good and appealing to the players.
Eve customizations
As seen in the trailers and the demo, Eve seems to have lots of different outfits and hairstyles to choose from. Thus during the interview, he was also asked about Eve’s customizations, and how important character customization is inStellar Blade. He was also asked about how many customization options will be available in the final game.
To this, he responded,

“There are about 30 different outfits available in the game, and they’re all acquirable through gameplay. So, you can explore, go on a quest, or go to the in-game shop to purchase them. You can enjoy that collecting element of the game.”

Interestingly, the director revealed that all these customizations are available in-game without any additional purchases.
