The anime industry has grown tremendously in recent years, and each new franchise has seen steady growth in revenues and fan following. Anime movies have also been crucial for increasing the fanbase of the series and being a significant source of revenue for the series.

Recently, a study was conducted on popular anime franchises and their movies, which includedOne Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Dragon Ball. Itrevealed that gender inequality in them was pretty high, with the ratio of women in the anime film industry based on the survey pool being 46% in lower levels as compared to 18% in higher positions.

Major names such asOne Piece, Dragon Ball, and Jujutsu Kaisenhave severe gender inequality
The Japanese Film Project (JFP) surveyed to investigate gender disparities on movie sites, including some very popular names.
One Piece: Film Red,Jujutsu Kaisen 0,Suzume no Tojimari,Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, andDragon Ball Super: Super Hero weresome of the movies that were part of the survey.

The survey concluded some exciting and shocking results: the female workforce involved in anime film production throughout the survey was found to be 46 percent.
This ratio keeps falling with the increase in ranks. For example, women who worked as directors, animation directors, or chief animation directors were found to be 41 percent.

On the other hand, the ratio went down to 18 percent—roughly 56 women out of 315 staff members—when it came to producing positions. As depicted by the survey, high-ranking positions with a lot of power are usually taken by men.
Despite being a series that ranks up to more than 1 billion yen in sales for each movie, gender inequality is relatively high, and women seem to be working or being allotted only lower-level roles. In contrast, the significant roles are only allotted to men.
