Megalo Boxis initially the 50th anniversary project of legendary boxing mangaAshita no Joe, which was written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Tetsuya Chiba. The series took place in a futuristic Japan where a certain sport exists, Megalo Boxing, where boxers fight using a metal frame called Gear.
The protagonist is Junk Dog, voiced byYoshimasa Hosoya(Reiner inAttack on Titan, Gaius in theTrails Series), who ends up participating in the Megalonia Boxing tournament under the name Gearless Joe, fighting his opponents without Gear.
Nomad Megalo Box 2is the sequel to the first series, taking place seven years later, with Joe now going under the name Nomad. As such, be sure to watch the originalMegalo Boxfirst to better savor the anime. The series most notably has a distinct OST composed byMabanua.
