Beau DeMayo’sX-Men ’97became one of the biggest surprises of the year as the show successfully reinvented the beloved 90 series with a show that was narratively engaging and filled with rich characters. However, the creator and writer of the show has been embroiled in a controversy ever since his surprising exit days prior to its Disney+ premiere.

DeMayo has been very active on X talking about his input on the show and received a lot of praise from his fans for his brilliant writing. The creator has made many claims about how he has suffered under Marvel/Disney’s various pushback. With the company now claiming DeMayo’s alleged egregious misconduct as a reason for his firing, his lawyer is firing back with alleged gaslighting accusations.

DeMayo has been making some controversial statements about Disney recently as he claimed that he was removed as a writer from season 2 of the show because of a gay pride post he made in June (viaX). He also called out the company for notreaching out to himfor an appearance at the Emmys following the show’s nomination (viaX).

Disney finally released a statement two days back and revealed that“Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation”and the company had uncovered some alleged “egregious” findings (viaVariety). DeMayo’s lawyer has now criticized the company’s alleged gaslighting tactics and has claimed to reveal evidence that will prove the creator’s innocence of the alleged charges against him (viaDeadline).

Disney recently put out a statement stating thatX-Men ’97creatorBeau DeMayowas let go from the show due to some alleged egregious findings about him. In a surprising post onX, DeMayo claimed that Marvel/Disney is misleading the narrative abouthis firingwith an alleged contract breach due to his tweets.
