This Nintendo Switch 2 Feature Is Leaving Fans Frustrated
Nintendo has updated its privacy policy, leaving some feeling a little uneasy headed into the Nintendo Switch 2 launch.
But what aboutplaying games in Handheldor Tabletop mode, such as taking the Nintendo Switch 2 to a friend’s house? The Digital Foundry YouTube channel has reported the system’s final specs, which have a surprising reveal about the system’s performance when not hooked up to a TV.

Nintendo Switch 2 Games Take A Hit In Handheld Mode
TheNintendo Switch 2’s GPUuses 561MHz in portable mode and runs at 1007MHz when docked. The Switch 2 is capable of 3.072 TFLOPs in Docked mode, but only goes to 1.71 TFLOPs when not connected to the dock. This means there’s likely going to be a graphical hit in Handheld or Tabletop Mode.
Theoretically, the difference between the two is comparable to modern games withQuality and Performance settings. The idea is that more resources go into making a game look pretty when it’s on a big display, but things are toned down when it’s on a smaller screen to ensure everything runs well.

Direct comparisons between theSwitch 2’s modeswill be known only when the system is in fans' hands. It’s possible Nintendo will improve things with patches to the OS later, as happened with the original Switch. When coupled with third-party developers taking different approaches to visual fidelity, it means it could be a toss-up on whether games look good when portable.
