Monster Hunter Wildshas a slew of weapons for you to use to carry out the extinction of all wyverns, but the Long Sword makes a name for itself by combining speed and damage. The Long Sword lends itself to a variety of build styles, but there are two I’ve found that really seem to get the job done the best.
We’ll cover a Low Rank and High Rank build, so no matter where you are in your journey, you’ll have what you need to become a true menace to those monsters. While these builds should give you a good idea of what sort of setup works well with the Long Sword, never forget that part of Monster Hunter isbuild-crafting,so use this guide to set up your own builds!

There are lots of ways to set up a build for success, so don’t get stuck in your ways.If you want to try something, go for it! Just let this guide help get you started on your path.
8 Best Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds
Slash your foes to ribbons.
Primary Weapon
Rompo Hacker I
Secondary Weapon
Dosha Gravecleaver I
Rey Sandhelm
Rey Sandmail
G Ebony Braces
G Ebony Coil
Rey Sandgreaves
This build is a combination of Rey Dau and Ebony Odogaron equipment which will lean heavily on the Burst, Latent Power, and Power Prolonger Skills. These will keep your damage high throughout a hunt and, when combined with the Odogaron’s Burst Boost, you’re able to do some serious damage.
The goal here is to stay on the attack as much as possible to keep your buffs stacked. Once you hit max charge on your Long Sword, you should be doing consistently powerful damage.

Decorations are pretty limited at this point, so the build is more centered around the gear. Using whatever Decorations suit your fancy will work here.
I went with this early on because of the additional decoration slots that the gear provides as well. You’re welcome to use whatever decorations you like for this, but I’d recommend throwing in another level of Power Prolonger or Burst.

That’ll help keep your gauge filled and keep you at peak damage for longer. Since the Odogaron pieces are an integral part here, you’re welcome to swap out the Rey Dau pieces. Personally, I think Latent Power in this build can be pretty helpful since you’re constantly doing damage, which helps trigger it more often.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Hunting Horn Build Guide
If you like hunting and you like horns, I have good news.
Gravecleaver Urkemush
G Ebony Helm Alpha
Blango Mail Beta
G Ebony Braces Alpha
Blango Coil Beta
G Ebony Greaves Alpha
This build is very similar to the Low Rank build but has some added bonuses to keep you in the fight. With the combination of Burst, Power Prolonger, Critical Draw, and Punishing Draw, your damage is pretty much always maxed out.
That helps out your damage, but for defense, you’ll rely pretty heavily on Divine Blessing and Evade Extender. If you have the decorations for it, I recommend using one or two that will increase Evade Extender, which makes your I-frames for draw attacks longer.

I’d recommend changing your Talisman with whatever you’d like to, but I kept Earplugs to let me build up charge right away in a hunt and get in extra damage during roars.
There’s not a lot of wiggle room with this one in terms of gear, since you need both the Burst and Agitator skills: Burst for raw damage and Agitator because High Rank monsters are always enraged. The best place to make adjustments here is in the decorations.

Focus heavily on keeping yourself in the fight and using your draw skills to avoid damage.Hit hard and fast, but make sure you stay mobile and even Arch-Tempered monsters won’t stand a chance against you.

Recommended Long Swords
The Low Rank Long Swords are decent for doing damage, but of the two, I’d recommend using Rompo Hacker since it has Power Prolonger and will get in some additional damage thanks to the poison attribute. The Dosha Gravecleaver makes a good addition since it helps you build into the High Rank version of the weapon.
Neither of these weapons are the strongest in comparison, but the extra damage that the Hacker provides comes in handy. The Gravecleaver doesn’t possess any sort of element, but it does have the most raw damage of the weapons.
For High Rank, the Gravecleaver boasts the most raw damage of all the Long Swords. It comes at the cost of Affinity, but thanks to Critical Draw, you’re able to pretty much negate that, giving you a much larger damage boost.
While the Dimensius is nice, since it’s an Artian Weapon, you could have some trouble finding the pieces you want or need. You could make a few different ones, but the beauty of the Gravecleaver is that it fits any and all hunts.
No matter what you decide to use, remember that sometimes your build might have all the right pieces but not the right target. While some builds may be good for most challenges, you might find that making something more specific may come in handy more often than not.
Don’t forget to experiment! Come up with your own builds and refine them as best you can to be ready to take on theArena Questsin the Grand Hub to really test your skill!
You could also try planning aroundyour friends’builds (well, that is, if you have friends to play with). Even if not, you can always have some randoms come in and help out!
