Battle Rifles are a peculiar class of weapons inModern Warfare 2andWarzone 2, packing a serious punch at the cost of handling and recoil control. While the TAQ-V is one of the best Battle Rifles in the game currently, theSO-14is a decent choice for players who want a weapon more akin to the DMR from the original Warzone.

The SO-14 possesses a relativelyfast fire rateand is capable of eliminating unarmored opponents in as little as two shots (or a single shot to the head). However, the SO-14 does have theworst level of recoil control, handling, and mobilityof its weapon type. In terms of range and accuracy, the SO-14 is reliably on par with other Battle Rifles, making it a considerable choice for long-range combat. It also has a full-auto fire mode, which is only really useful up close.
Unlocking The SO-14
The SO-14 is a part of theOrdnance Weapon Platformand thus cannot be unlocked by reaching a certain level. Instead, players will need to get theEBR-14 to Weapon Level 12to get the SO-14. Leveling up your weapons in Modern Warfare 2 is a fairly simple task, as most in-game actions award both XP and Weapon XP. However, the best way to level up your desired gun is to gather eliminations with it.

If you are using the SO-14 for regular Multiplayer, go ahead and create a preset Perk Package. For your first Base Perk, we recommend usingBattle Hardened. This is toreduce the effectiveness of Flash and Stun Grenades, thus making it much easier to sit in key vantage points without being disturbed. Next, takeScavenger for resupplying your ammunition, keeping your ammo reserve stocked for high-kill games.Fast Handsis an absolute must to combat the slow reload time of most guns. Last but not least, takeGhost for staying off the minimap.
Unfortunately, for Warzone 2 players, you are unable to create your own custom Perk Package. Instead, consider choosing one of two preset Perk Packages. Our first recommendation isWarden, which containsDouble Time, Strong Arm, Fast Hands, and Quick Fix. The second isWeapon Specialist, which allows you to equip another primary weapon that is more viable for close range.
Secondary Recommendations
As the SO-14 is more tailored for long-range engagements, it is significantly slow up close. Therefore, we recommend pairing this Battle Rifle with theX13 Auto, a Machine Pistol that provides ahigh damageoutput to players in the immediate vicinity. The X13 Auto does have a fair bit of recoil and low ammo capacity, so ensure to equip an underbarrel and an extended magazine to reduce these flaws.
For all your Warzone 2 players, you may benefit more from taking aSubmachine Gunas a close-range support weapon.TheLachmann SubandtheFennec 45are great considerations for sweeping buildings and tight areas. However, if you are looking to up your range and mag size, then taketheFSS Hurricane.
