Minecraft’s latest version may have focused on the Pale Gardens, but that’s not actually the most recent addition to the game.
Java Snapshot 25w02a, a test drive for the content coming in Minecraft’s next update, was just released. It’s got new pigs, some nice touches to overworld forests, and some Pale Garden improvements.

The two new pig variants aren’t random spawns, they’re biome specific - and of course, come with a reclassification of the pink pig you already know.
The existing “Temperate Pig” is the default pig spawn for any pig-friendly biome that can’t otherwise spawn the new pigs. The “Cold Pig” spawns in cooler biomes like the snowy taiga and windswept gravelly hills. While the “Warm Pig” prefers the savanna, jungle, and badlands.

Each forest in the overworld just got a bit livelier, with all their leaf blocks now featuring a particle effect reminiscent of leaves falling in the wind. It’s fairly similar to the effects from the Cherry Groves, and as with that biome, we can now also find flowers scattered along the forest floor.
Wildflowers are essentially yellow versions of the cherry petals from the Groves, able to be found in Birch forests and meadows.

In a similar vein, you can also now find piles of dead leaves on the ground, in “leaf litter” piles with all the audio effects you’d expect from something so autumnal.
As for the Pale Garden, they’re a bit bigger now, and can have woodland mansions spawn within them. You can also put a nametag on a Creaking to have them persist through the day. And to top things off, there have been various small changes to Creaking Hearts, including a new dormant texture.

Minecraft Looks Unrecognizable With These Realism Mods, But Fans Are Divided
Is this what Minecraft should look like? Or does it remove the game’s “soul” and creativity?
The last big change is to lodestone blocks - you can craft them now! And fairly easily, too - just 1 iron ingot surrounded by chiseled stone bricks.

you may read about everything in the new snapshot from Mojang’sown post on the topic.
A New Form For Minecraft Updates
If you were seeing a lot of stories in the past couple days aboutMojang’svarious cryptic teasers- yep, this is what it was all about.
Mojang has said they’re moving away from larger updates, and into “drops”- smaller batches of content released more frequently throughout the year. It’s a policy that’s been met with a largely warm reception, and one that today’s update will easily fit into.
Minecraft Legends: Complete Mobs Guide
You’re going to need a big army to take down the piglins. We’ll explain each mob type, how to get them, and how to increase the size of your army.
Obviously, content released in a snapshot isn’t yet finished, so there may be more on the way. But if we already have everything of substance, this feels like a good amount of content for a small touch-up.
You couldn’t make a whole “Caves & Cliffs” -esque marketing push out of leaves, flowers, and pig variants, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worthy of inclusion into the full game. But they don’t need to be connected to anything grander, it’s just a nice little drop of content.
