The game doesn’t make it too clear at the beginning, but there are a handful of weapons to pick from, and each one comes with a handful of game-changing upgrades. These weapons play vastly different from one another, making what would be near-impossible traps into a cakewalk. Here’s how you may unlock and upgrade this diverse cast of weapons.

Unlocking New Weapons

You can unlock new weapons from theWeapons Advisor in the Sanctuary. If you’re having trouble finding her, she sits just to the right of the raid map. After talking with her, you can spend Cells and Parts to gain access to any of the three weapons still locked at the start of the game.

Meet Your Maker has quite a fewinteresting concepts for weapons, but the fee to gain access to these weapons isn’t cheap, sochoose wisely while you’re still starting out.You can eventually gain access to all the weapons available, but that will require a significant commitment, and you’ll likely only ever use a few weapons once you settle into a defined style.

Upgrading Weapons

Once you’ve unlocked a weapon, you’ll be able to upgrade it by clicking on it in the Weapon Advisor screen. Each weapon can be upgraded two times, but doing so will cost a significant chunk of bothCells and Parts. In total, you’ll need 2,100 Cells and 1,450 Parts to upgrade any given weapon completely after unlocking it, so only upgrade your favorite gear.

However, you shouldn’t avoid upgrading your weapons just because you’ll have to pay the admittedly insane cost. These upgrades pack a serious punch, either significantly increasing the current stats or offering new, incredibly powerful effects to the weapon.

For example, the first upgrade on the Arc Barrier allows you to use a grappling hook while the shield is active, allowing you to fly through rooms without a care. The Volt Lancergains an extra bolt on its first upgrade level, and for its second, the reload time is cut in half. With perks as good as these, weapon upgrades are often too good to pass up if you plan on raiding a lot.
