Meet Your Makeris a game about building outposts and raiding outposts made by others, and of the two sides of this game, it’s fair to say that raiding is far harder. Not only do you have to learn how to evade and disarm all sorts of terrifying traps, but you also have to develop the skills to consistently move and shoot how you want.

With raiding outposts being so hard, everyone could use a little bit of advice. After all, the better you get at raiding, the faster you can earn GenMat and the more materials you can gather. Here are 10 of the best tips out there to help you take your raiding game to another level.

10Move Slowly And Be Thorough

You’ve probably realized or heard this advice before, but it bears restating. There is no time limit to raids, and even once you start trying to raise your rank, you’re only evaluated on how many times you died, not how long it took.

The safest way to play Meet Your Maker is tomove slowly and check your corners thoroughly. If a section demands that you move quickly, dash in and out of the room, eliminating a few traps each time. Taking the time to deal with the traps as safely as possible is usually worth it in the long run if it saves you a few attempts.

9Watch Behind You

Whether you’re walking up a ramp or halfway through an outpost, always remember to check behind you.Base builders love to put traps that hit you in the backor set enemies on a patrol path so that they follow you into the Outpost once you’ve cleared the first few rooms.

These tricks are unlikely to kill you a second time, butit’s better if they don’t kill you at all,so ensure to check your back frequently.

8Use Your Grapple Often

The grapple is your only movement tool in Meet Your Maker, andit can make tons of complicated traps much easier to deal with. Not only does your grapple give you a slight speed boost, but it also allows you to move at weird angles and move up to higher locations.

You should use your grapple to the point whereit feels natural to grapple in and out of danger.Once it does, you can add this movement ability to your tool belt for clearing complicated rooms.

7Don’t Kill Harvey

Harvey, the harvester clone that lives in every outpost, is more useful than you think. While Harvey can get in the way quite often and slow you down,he’s invaluable if the base you’re raiding happens to be a maze.

Maze bases can be a huge waste of time, but at least if you left Harvey alive you simply have to wait and follow him to see where the GenMat is hidden. Even if the base isn’t a maze, watching to see which corridor Harvey goes down or the exact path he follows can tell you where to go.

6Upgrade Your Weapons And Gear

Theupgrades offered for your weaponsand gear might seem minimal, butthey can be incredibly important when you’re raiding. The slight increases that a subtly faster attack speed or another bolt offers are undeniable.

More importantly, these upgrades stack over time. With one set of upgrades, you may not notice much of a difference, but once you have a few suit upgrades to pair with it,those upgrades might suddenly change how you approach the game.

5Pay Close Attention To Your Danger Indicators

Danger indicators are the single most useful tool you have as a raider. They alert you to any imminent, life-threatening danger,so you should learn exactly how to read them. For example, they’ll appear in the direction the danger was from you when you first activated it; an indicator on the left will stay on the left even after you turn.

There are a few common situations that may trip you up like two danger indicators from the same direction or the fact that above and in front both place danger indicators on the top of your screen. That’s why you shouldpractice paying as close attention to them as possibleso that you eventually learn how to read these indicators instinctively.

4Use Hard Bases As Practice

As fun as Meet Your Maker is, it has a problem in that not every outpost you raid will be as hard as the last, so you never know when you’ll have to beat a harder one. That’s why you shouldmake the most of the hard outposts when you run into them.

If a particular room or trap combination is giving you trouble, give the base a few extra attempts to really learn how you need to handle that situation.Learning how to beat it now will make you a better player for the bases to come.

3Learn How To Handle Common Traps

There are a lot of repeated traps in the Meet Your Maker community, solearning how to solve a few of the incredibly common ones can really help you raid outposts more effectively. For example, tons of bases have an Incinerator at the back of a narrow hallway blocked by Death Pistons.

If you see a trap combination more than three times, really think through the various ways you could handle that trap, and consider the ways it could’ve been even deadlier.Who knows, you might run into an outpost that uses a deadlier variation. Thinking now will let you play on instinct later.

2Use The Lean Feature

Not every player knows this, butMeet Your Maker has a lean feature that lets you poke your head around cornersto check for traps. If you’re playing with a controller, push in the joysticks to lean in either direction, and if you’re on PC, hit Q or E.

Leaning doesn’t activate traps, andyou can still shoot, melee, or activate hardware while you do so.This makes it an invaluable tool for solving certain rooms where you’re able to’t get a good line of sight, to begin with.

1Use Your Hardware

You have to use your hardware. The grenades, Pheonix Pods, and other hardware of Meet Your Maker are all valuable tools that can help you clear rooms safer and faster than you could without them.

Yes, they cost resources, and yes, it’s scary to use consumables in video games. However,Parts are a very common material, andyou’ll soon hit a point where you have a massive stockpile of Parts and nothing to use them on.Don’t get stingy; use your hardware if you feel a room is too hard without it.
