Blob,Marvel Snap’s newest card addition, has the potential to be a pretty solid player in the current meta. Blob releases in the game on December 12 and can be obtained in Spotlight Cahces with a Spotlight Key. He will be featured alongside The Living Tribunal (Series 5) and Ravonna Renslayer (Series 4).

Marvel Snap: Best Ms. Marvel Decks

Ms. Marvel has joined Marvel Snap’s roster of heroes! If you need help crafting a deck, this guide has your answers.

If players want to save their Spotlight Keys and still grab Blob, he can be acquired in the Token Shop for 6,000 Tokens. Blob works pretty well with The Living Tribunal, highlighted later in this guide, so if players are missing both of these cards it may be worth grabbing them at the same time.

Best Blob Decks

Blob joins the small set of cards that have both anOn Revealand anOngoingAbility. Blob’s Ability states “On Reveal: Merge your deck into this (and gain its total Power).Ongoing: Can’t be moved” which means, when he is placed, the total Power remaining in your deck will be funneled into Blob’s Power. There are a couple of different strategies to employ with Blob. When he is placed and his On Reveal Ability is triggered, players will want to make sure the card remaining in their deck (if possible) consists of high-Power cards to give Blob a massive boost. This can be achieved in a couple of different ways that will be discussed below.

Another way to get the most out of Blob is to get him down on the field as quickly as possible. This can be done by using cards likeJubilee,Wave, orElectro, and that will be covered more in theSynergiessection of this guide.

Blob Hela Deck

In this deck, Blob is used as more of a backup plan. Because his Ability can have unpredictable results, it’s probably not a good idea to build an entire deck solely around him. Instead, you can get the most out of Blob by squeezing him into a deck as a fallback plan.

This is a standard Hela Tribunal deck. The ideal play here is to lay downInvisible Womanfollowed byM.O.D.O.K.followed byHela. This combination of cards will result in the player’s entire hand being discarded, only to immediately be brought back by Hela. This can be a bit unpredictable since players won’t be able to choose where the cards are resurrected, but this deck is filled with so many high-Power cards that it shouldn’t matter too much where they’re played.

A Marvel Snap deck comprised of Blob, Blade, Invisible Woman, Morbius, Gambit, Lady Sif, M.O.D.O.K., Giganto, Hela, Hulk, The Infinaut, and the Living Tribunal.

Playing the Invisible Woman, M.O.D.O.K., Hela combo can result in some hefty gains, especially whenBlobandThe Living Tribunalare both resurrected.

Marvel Snap deck comprised of Blob, Wasp, Lockjaw, Thor, High Evolutionarty, Jubilee, Jane Foster Thor, Doctor Doom, Giganto, Hulk, The Infinaut, and the Living Tribunal.

Blob Living Tribunal Deck

This deck relies on cards likeLockjawandJubileeto bring the heavy Power to the board. Playing lower-Cost cards that turn into high-Power cards is the strategy here.Lockjaw, followed by cards likeWasporMjolnircan net major Power in the lane where it is placed. Like the previous deck, this one can be a bit unpredictable but it has a pretty decent rate of success and once players know the deck well, it will be clear when a winning game is taking place.

High Evolutionaryisn’t necessary in this deck, but it’s a great addition. His Ability will boost the Power ofHulkeven higher for every turn players do not use all of their Energy. It will also giveWaspa Power-reducing effect on enemy cards, which is a win-win for the person playing her since she is a free 0-Cost card. Cards likeThe Living TribunalandDoctor Doomare also great at spreading Power across the board.

Best Blob Counters

Unfortunately, Blob has quite a few different counters. The main counter strategy for Blob is to either destroy him or to effect his Power-absorbing Ability. This happens in a few different ways.Shang-Chiis the central counter to Blob as he will destroy any card over 10-Power. This spells doom for Blob, but also any other high-Power card in a deck. Blob decks will often house many high-Power cards, so Shang-Chi is a card to watch out for.

Shadow Kingis another interesting counter. He is not very relevant in the current meta (at the time of writing), but when played, he will revert all cards in that lane back to their original Power. This means Blob can trigger his On Reveal Ability, absorb +20-Power, and then be brought back down to 4-Power by Shadow King’s On Reveal Ability. There isn’t much players can do to avoid this card other than ensure your opponent maintains turn priority on the final turn, but that’s easier said than done in a Blob deck.

One strategy to counter Blob that may not be as obvious is to drain a deck of its cards. Blob’s On Reveal Ability relies on high-Power cards (or any cards for that matter) to be in the hand of the player placing him. If an opponent manages to drain a deck of cards, it can hurt Blob’s potential gains when he is played. Cards that can cause a player to draw additional cards from their deck are ones likeMaximus,Baron Mordo,Yondu, andCrystal.

Best Blob Synergies

Synergies that may be obvious for Blob are cards with high-Power. A full list of high-Power cards that can be squeezed into a Blob deck can be found below! Some cards that go well with Blob, but may not be as obvious are ones that allow Blob to get onto the board as fast as possible. Since his On Reveal Ability relies on the high-Power cards still being in your hand when he’s played, it’s important in most scenarios to get Blob down quickly. Cards that can help Blob make it to the board fast areJubilee,Wave, andLockjaw! There are pros and cons to each of these cards, but they should all be able to get the job done.

A couple of ways players can get the most out of Blob’s potentially enormous Power total is by usingThe Living TribunalorTaskmaster. The Living Tribunal will take your overall Power, and evenly distribute it among all three lanes. This means that if Blob is carrying +30-Power, The Living Tribunal will move that across all the lanes giving each 10-Power. Taskmaster will copy the Power of the card played before him. If players manage to get Blob on the field before turn 6, Taskmaster is a fantastic follow-up. These two cards together can easily carry two lanes, which is all that is needed to secure those precious Cubes.
