One major problem fans have noticed is that team compositions aren’t always optimal. Ideally, you want 1-2 Vanguards, 2 Strategists, and 2-3 Duelists, giving your team a balance between tanks, healers, and DPS. As you’d expect, everyone wants to play the DPS role and do damage.

Will Marvel Rivals Get A Role Queue?
Speaking withDot Esports,Marvel Rivalscreative director Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen was asked if the highly anticipated feature would come to the game.
“Right now, we’re not considering a role queue,” he said. “The team’s goal is to offer a wider variety of team composition through team-up skills and their own designs, to let people play their Marvel superheroes rather than limiting players to choosing a role.”

The team at NetEase has stated they don’t see their heroes traditionally filling the tank/healer/DPS roles that other games likeOverwatchdo. During a launch night Q&A in the game’s official Discord, they elaborated on this, saying they prefer fans to play their favorite Marvel heroes instead of being shoehorned into a role they may not be comfortable with.
Marvel Rivals: Every Character’s Overwatch Counterpart
Something seems rather familiar about these heroes and villains.
Thankfully, the hero design plays perfectly into NetEase’s philosophy here.Cloak & Dagger, for example, is a strategist who is more than capable of dishing out serious damage beyond just healing. Several heroes can perform multiple roles well, meaning there isn’t the strict requirement of a role queue other games have.

“From the data we’re seeing in our back end, things are going pretty solid,” Chen adds. “We want people to have a Marvel experience where they can select what they want. [Since the closed beta test] things have been rational and within expectations. In our Competitive play recently, there is a lot of different compositions emerging from players and we’d like to continue to monitor these fun compositions and how they impact our game.”
