Differences Between Quick Play and Competitive Mode

As we alluded to earlier, playing matches in Competitive Mode offers a more competitive experience. This is true in terms of the quality of your opponents and how a game plays out. If you’re looking to play with friends, you must be in the same rank bracket, otherwise you cannot queue with them.

When playing one of the escort modes (Convoy and Convergence), both teams will have a chance to play on offense and defense.

Competitive Ranks in Marvel Rivals

Each team earns one point if they reach a checkpoint during the mission. Whoever has the most points at the end of the match wins.

In a tie-breaker, two scenarios play out. First, the winner is whoever progresses further on the map.

The other big change comes in the Diamond tier, where both teams can ban heroes before the match begins.

Explaining All Competitive Ranks in Marvel Rivals

As you progress through the game’s Competitive Mode and win matches, you’ll earn points that help you unlock new ranks.

There are eight ranks in total, six of which have three separate tiers.

Winning a match earns you points for the next rank. However, losing matches results in losing points, so be careful! Mechanics such as the Chrono Shield help prevent you from losing points.

The Chrono Shield is a buffer that prevents you from losing rank after a loss. Once used, it goes on a cooldown, though, which is recharged as you lose more matches.

The higher the rank, the more losses you need to fully recharge it. Think of it as a fail-safe when you’re stuck on a losing streak. It won’t prevent you from losing rank every time, but if you’re having a rough night, it softens the blow.

How to Rank Up in Marvel Rivals

Ranking inMarvel Rivalsis pretty simple: win, and you’ll gain points that increase your rank. The more you win, the more points you get and, therefore, the higher your rank will become.

For every 100 points you earn, you’ll reach a new tier. For example, after earning 100 points in Bronze Tier III, you’ll move up to Bronze Tier II. You move up to a new rank once you earn 100 points in Tier I.

The amount of points you earn is based on several factors, such as the skill of the enemy team and your overall performance.

It’s not just about a good Kill/Death ratio; you must be a great teammate to earn the most points possible. Your performance comes in handy in a loss, which can help mitigate the points you lose.

What Kind of Player You’ll Find at Each Rank in Marvel Rivals

Each rank will also house a different style of player, resulting in a very different experience at each tier.
