If you’ve been playingElden Ringfor a while, you must be well aware of all the ‘worsts‘ that can happen to your character. Dying to a boss a thousand times or falling off a cliff while Torrent makes sense of your existence are some of the few brutal ways you can lose dignity. However, one particular player seems to have lost it all.

Quite literally. When this player logged intoElden Ringafter a while, in hopes of continuing their journey, they were shocked to find that all their character progress was gone. Apparently, something happened to the save file and caused hundreds of hours worth of progress to just vanish away.
Tragically, the Elden Ring Player Lost a Save File With 400 Hours of Playtime on It
In aReddit postrecently, anElden Ringplayer shared one of the most unexpected issues they’ve come across. It’s not to do with the gameplay. Rather, the game has mistreated their loyalty. According to the user:
Started up Elden Ring last night to start to figure out what build I wanted to do for my next play through and to just refresh myself for the DLC and when I went to load my old saved game, it was not listed

The poor soul even went on to put a ‘humor‘ flair on the post, considering how unexpected yet hilarious this concern seems. Unfortunately, losing 400 hours’ worth of progress is a truly heartbreaking thing to happen when you’ve mastered a certain build.

Mohg, and the Many Other Battles the Player Has to Go Through Again
As we’ve seen from the DLC’s trailer, it’s likely that players will have to first battle Mohg, Lord of Blood, in order to gain access to the new realm. However, experienced Tarnished who have already journeyed through this don’t have to worry about it anymore. Except for our twice-Tarnished player, who lost their save file.

For them, it’s going to be yet another difficult journey of starting everything from scratch and likely experimenting with new builds. In fact, the player can even try out builds thatresemble other FromSoftware games.
The silver lining here is having a fresh playthrough that lets the player explore the game in a different way, andElden Ringis truly all about that. After all, many FromSoftware players consider restarting from scratch when a DLC arrives.
