God of Waris one of the most popular first-party franchises under the PlayStation Studios banner and helped put Santa Monica Studios on the map. The game has undergone significant changes but the core remains the same, in a more controlled and mature fashion.

Taking on the role of Kratos, players had to do many disturbing acts of violence throughout the years. The Spartan warrior was no gentle soul towards his enemies and the Gods of Olympus took advantage of his skill and power and abused him in ways unimaginable.
Despite the Many Changes, the God of War Franchise Is Still the Same
Santa Monica Studiohas established itself as one of the major first-party studios of Sony. The studio recently released the second part of the Norse Saga and despite positive review scores, the gaming community believesthat the pacing was poor inGod of War Ragnarok.
One could argue that it is all relative to the individual player experience, regardless, it tied up loose ends for the Ghost of Sparta. In aninterview, David Jaffe, the original creator spoke about how intense combat is essential.

The goal of our combat is to make the player feel brutal, letting their inner beast free and just going nuts.
Kratos is a god capable of great violence and his rageful quest for blood against those who wronged him, resulted in the end of all life in Greece. He did not care about those caught in the crossfire as long as he accomplished his goal of wiping out all gods.

While there was a significant gap between the finale of the Greek Saga and the Norse Saga, Kratos has changed his ways. Being given a second chance at being a father, he is no longer theGod of Warbut old habits die hard.
David Jaffe Had a Unique Way of Viewing God of War and Should Be Proud of How It Evolved
Violence is not for everybody but Jaffe wanted the players to express their rage into something productive. Kratos was a different kind of god in his earlier years and has grown to be a wise and loving father who means to redeem himself.

New threats forced Kratos to return to his older form but now far more disciplined than he once was. Players could learn from this character development and to not let the rage take control but harness it.
Kratos was a monster that was shaped by the brutal gods to do their bidding and after he broke free from his past, the horrors of his actions lay in front of him. It is never too late to late to try and be better.

Peace was never an option for a man like him, but with great effort, Kratos is now hailed as the champion of the Nine Realms. His new purpose is to restore order and to become better than the former Gods.
