Magic: The Gatheringis going cosmic in theEdge of Eternities set, as Spacecraft cards are coming to the game, which are incredibly powerful artifacts that require a lot of power to get going.

Magic: The Gathering already has a wide variety ofvehicles and mounts, many of which use the Crew and Saddle abilities to activate. These involve tapping creatures to allow their ride to enter the field so that their powers can be unleashed on the enemy.

Sonic The Hedgehog Is Magic: The Gathering’s Next Gaming Crossover

Sonic the Hedgehog characters and cards will be featured in an upcoming Magic: The Gathering crossover, as part of a future Secret Lairs drop.

Wizards of the Coast has revealed that the Edge of Eternities set will add Spacecrafts to the game during a special preview event. These cards use the brand-new Station mechanic, as their might cannot be unleashed straight away.

How Do Spacecrafts Work In Magic: The Gathering?

Spacecrafts are Artifact cards with the Station keyword, as well as a number on the bottom left. The Spacecraft might have an on-play effect, but it doesn’t attack or gain certain abilities until it’s charged by other monsters.

This is where theStation mechanic comes in. Similar to Crew, the player can tap any monster as long as a Station card is on the field to produce Charge Counters equal to their Power, which are added to the ship. Once the Charge Counters equal or exceed the number on the bottom left of the card, the Spacecraft can potentially transform into a creature, with its stats on the bottom right, or activate new abilities.

One example of this is the Extinguisher Battleship card, which costs eight mana of any kind to summon. When it enters, it destroys a nonland permanent, then deals 4 damage to each creature on the field. If the player is able to tap and produce five or more charge counters, then it transforms into a 10/10 creature with Flying and Trample.

The Spacecraft cards all look to be extremely powerful, though that comes with a high mana cost and a slow start time. Once they get going, these cards will be fearsome to behold on the battlefield. Players won’t be waiting longto try them out, as Edge of Eternities launches on June 05, 2025.
