Durk Banks aka Lil Durk, the popular Chicago rapper and founder of the Only the Family (OTF) collective, was arrested and charged in an alleged murder-for-hire. Five other rappers with links to OTF were earlier arrested on federal charges after the murder of Saviay’a Robinson aka Lul Pab. It is believed that the group targeted another rapper Tyquian Terrel Bowman aka Quando Rondo.

Bowman is a suspect in the murder of rapper and OTF member King Von in Atlanta in 2020. Bowman and his family were shot at in a gas station along Beverly Boulevard and Robinson was fatally wounded. As Durk is being held in Broward County Jail, fans bring up one of his songs, which mentioned his fate years earlier.

He is being charged with murder-for-hire and will be handed over to the US Marshals. Dayvon Daquan Bennett aka King Von was involved in an altercation with Quando Rondo’s crew in Atlanta Georgia. The dispute quickly escalated, resulting in Bennett being shot multiple times (via Hot New Hip Hop). Timothy Leeks, a rapper affiliated with Rondo, was identified as the suspect. Bennett’s passing deeply affected Lil Durk, who deactivated his socials.
When he came back, he announced the release of the singleBackdooras part of his albumThe Voice. The album was a tribute to Bennett. Interestingly,one of the tracks in the albumpredicted Durk’s current legal issues in 2020. Fans shared that the lyrics of the songRedmanhave come true for Durk in real life. One of the lines read:

The other lines also carry some references to his friend’s death and hint at a possible retaliation. Fans on X shared about the rapper’s lyrics:

Lil Durk was arrested alongside five other rappers Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston in the murder of Lul Pab. The defendants Wilson, Jones, Lindsey, and Houston flew out to California to track down Rondo, perWGN TV.

They followed Rondo and his family, who were traveling in their car. When they reached the gas station near Beverly Boulevard, the defendants opened fire and fatally wounded Lul Pab. They then flew back to Chicago. According to the prosecutors, Grant flew from Miami to LA to provide the others with gins. A white BMW sedan and a white Infiniti were used by the defendants to follow Bowman and his family.
According toWGN TV, Lil Durk also faces murder charges in a separate lawsuit filed by rapper FBG Duck’s family. FBG Duck was killed in a shooting outside a Gold Coast store in 2020.
