10 Unique Crafting Systems in Video Games
Whether you making something new or rebuilding to survive, here are crafting systems that stand out from the rest.
Still, everyone can use a refresher, and this quest serves as one for you as well. If it’s been a while since you played the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance or you’re completely new to the series, taking the time to sharpen your smithing skills is critical.

This quest is an optional branch of the “Wedding Crashers” main quest line and can be missed if you choose to work with Miller Kreyzl instead of Blacksmith Radovan to get access to the wedding in Semine, so ensure you’re tackling this one either way to be able to craft new weapons moving forward.
Ask Radovan For A Job
Journey to Tachov and locate Blacksmith Radovan toiling away at his forge at the south end of town. He works long hours during the day, so he’s hard to miss unless you arrive in the middle of the night.
Ask Radovan about working for him, and he’ll question you about your prior work history. Luckily, you’ve done this a few times before, so he’s willing to take you on.

First, however, he needs to see you craft aHunting Swordto prove you may still handle the job. Don’t worry, Radovan will coach you every step of the way.
Gather Your Materials
For this test, you need to have two steel pieces, one scrap metal, and one fastening material.
If you don’t have all these materials on you at the moment, Radovan will allow you to use what he has in his chest inside his shop. Conveniently, it has exactly what you need for a hunting sword.

Forge Your Blade
With your materials now in your inventory, approach the anvil to get to work. You’ll see a schematic of a hunting sword, showing its stats if you manage to forge it perfectly on your first try.
Confirm you’d like to craft this blade and proceed.

Heating In The Furnace
Step one is learning how to move your workpiece back and forth in the furnace and heating up the coals with the bellows. Once you have this down, Radovan will instruct you to move the steel around until all sections are glowing the color of “straw yellow.”
Swords heat up in three sections. You’ll need to heat each of the three portions to a yellow color to get the most out of your crafting.

Radovan mentions that you can take the piece out of the furnace to check the evenness of its heating. Once you inspect it with all three sections glowing the same yellow color, he’ll direct you to bring it to the anvil.
Hammering Into Shape
First, Radovan will have you simply practice moving the blade up and down on the anvil, so give it a go.
Next, you’ll take a few swings at the steel, with Radovan mentioning to you that you know you’re doing it correctly if you see sparks flying. Use this as a success barometer for all future smithing projects as well.
You’ll then be asked to strike the blade as hard as you can a few times and to flip the sword around to hammer the other side of the blade as well.
Continue this process of hammering and flipping until the blade cools down, and Radovan will direct you back to the furnace to heat it back up.
If Henry is whistling as he works, you know you’re doing everything exactly correctly. Try hammering to a steady rhythm, moving up and down on the blade with each strike, striking with the same power each time, and flipping the blade after each side is struck the entire length of the piece. You can run out of stamina while working too, so keep an eye on that meter.
Eventually, the steel will take the shape of the blade you’re crafting.
Don’t worry about knowing exactly when to stop, as Radovan will let you know when it looks like it’s done. Till then, just keep hammering away.
Tempering And Learning Your Results
The only thing left to do is temper the blade, which is the easiest part of the process.
Henry does this process automatically after one button prompt, quickly reheating the blade one last time and quickly cooling it off in a bucket of water to harden it.
Inspect your work and see how well you did. After tempering is complete, you’ll be given a quality grade for your efforts and be shown the stats that coincide with your work.
Crafted items can get three rankings — bronze, silver, or gold. If your hunting sword receives a gold rating, congratulations! You absolutely nailed it! If you earn silver or bronze, don’t sweat it. Most things in KCD2 take patience and practice.
Pass The Test
With this, Radovan is convinced to allow you to get to work with him, and he’ll quickly set you off towards your next Blacksmithing duty. He’ll also be able to teach you more techniques for a fee and offers you a bed in the nearby woodshed to use as you please. Cozy!
