After the intro section ofKingdom Come: Deliverance2, our hero Henry will be in the market for a horse. With his trusty steed Pebbles missing, traversal is going to be a major pain until Henry can get back in the saddle.
10 Best Video Game Horses, Ranked
Horses are a staple in the history of video games, but some stand more prominently than others. From Elden Ring to Ocarina of Time, here are the best.
Retrieving Pebbles from the stable in Semine is the easiest option to begin with. From there, you’ll have some choices to make if you’d like a more valuable horse. You’ve got a lot of ground to cover in the Trosky region, so why not have the best horse for the job?

Let’s take a look at the six best named horses you can acquire in the early portion of the game and what you need to do in order to obtain them. Giddy up.
All but one horse on this list can be stolen if money is tight. In order to permanently register a stolen horse to Henry, you must take it to Horse Handler Mikolai at the Nomad’s Camp. For a small fee, he’ll outfit the horse with basic gear and make it Henry’s horse to keep.

Henry’s same canon steed from the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance and one of thebest horses in the game, Pebbles is a tried-and-true early game option and the simplest to acquire.
Its only above-par early game stat is 12 points in Courage, but that’s a trait of a horse that can be very valuable at the beginning of the game.

With a decent courage stat, Pebbles won’t get as easily spooked when combat situations arise. A less courageous horse can sometimes buck Henry off its back when things get dicey, which can leave you in an extremely compromised position in a battle.
After the intro section of the game, head to Semine in the south-west portion of the Trosky region. Here, you’ll find a horse dealer that’s added Pebbles to his inventory.

With the passing of a dialogue skill check, he will return Pebbles to you at no cost.
5Bitterklee
A Storage Workhorse
Available for sale at the same horse dealer in Semine where you’ll find Pebbles, Bitterklee is next on the list.
Bitterklee is a bit faster than Pebbles, though also a little less courageous. But where this horse shines is in its storage capacity relative to its acquired point in the game.

A true workhorse, Bitterklee’s capacity stat registers at a whopping 208, which is the highest number of any steed before the Back In The Saddle main quest is completed.
If you’re finding yourself too often over-encumbered and without enough storage capacity on your horse to ease this issue, then Bitterklee could be the right choice.
This horse can be purchased from Ballatay, the horse groomer in Semine, though it will set you back 1,000 Groschen if you’d like to purchase it.
Still, this is the cheapest option you’re able to purchase in Semine, so it’s one to consider if you’d like to obtain a horse legally.
Speed Demon
The second of three horses available for purchase in Semine, Tarant is up next.
With a rating of 45 in speed, this is the absolute fastest horse you can find in the early portions of the game. It also features an impressive 160 in Stamina, so it will need fewer breaks to catch its breath as you’re traveling across Trosky.
Tarant’s courage and capacity are both lower than Pebbles', so you’ll need to decide if that trade-off is worth it to you.
Be prepared to pony up some cash if you’d like to employ Tarant’s services, however. Groom Ballatay will demand a total sum of 1,220 Groschen for its purchase, though that number can be haggled down a bit.
Ready For War
For those willing to fork over a hefty sum of money, Solider is the best horse you can obtain from the handler in Semine.
While it’s not the fastest horse on this list, its numbers everywhere else are simply too strong to ignore.
Solider has the third-highest capacity of all choices on this list and is the second most courageous of them all.
When it comes down to it, any horse can get you from Point A to Point B. It takes the bravery of a true warhorse like Solider to really give you an advantage in every encounter you’ll have in the region.
Great horses come with big price tags, so the pre-haggle Groschen sum to obtain Soldier sits at a massive 1,330.
Solider is the best horse you may obtain before progressing to the Back In The Saddle main quest.
Free To A Good Home
Trosky Castle
Free - Obtained From Back In The Saddle Quest
Boasting high stamina, a quick pace, and plenty of courage, Herring becomes a perfect companion for Henry during the Back In The Saddle main story quest.
After a mix-up at Trosky Castle, Henry will have the option to accept Herring from the stable just outside the castle.
You’ll have the option to accept or decline this offer since Herring will automatically replace whichever horse you were already using, but it’s highly unlikely you’ll have a better steed at this point in the game.
You’ll get some basic gear at the Trosky Castle stable as well, boosting Herring’s stats a bit further.
Getting Herring for free is well worth the wait of making it through the main quest to this point, but there is one more horse available that still takes the cake.
All Geared Up
N/A - Must Be Stolen
Let’s address the elephant in the room regarding Schkrle. With a speed rating of 30, it registers as the slowest horse on this entire list. When you look at the rest of its stats, however, this is a compromise worth making.
Schkrle is the only horse on this list that’s already completely decked out with the finest gear. Because of this, it comes preloaded with the absolute best stats in every other category outside of speed.
There’s no better choice to be made.
The tricky thing here is that Schkrle must be stolen from the Nabakov stables during or shortly after the Back In The Saddle main quest.
Even so, you shouldn’t feel bad for stealing from Nabakov, so jump in the saddle and hightail it to Mikolai at the Nomad’s Camp to claim Schkrle as your own.
