Kingdom Come Deliverance is an RPG that revels in its difficult and obtuse nature. Ever since the first installment of the realistic Bohemian hit, the game has thrown players in the deep end, forcing them to work their way from rags to riches in the shoes of the lowly peasant Henry.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Set To Break Baldur’s Gate 3’s Record

The upcoming RPG might set a new world record for the longest video game script.

But knowing what we know now, we would assume that Henry would be better equipped for this next chapter. However, after a brutal fall, they are basically right back to square one. Figures.

So, this means that players will need to find ways to build their stats, make a bunch of Gloschen, and not die in a rudimentary sword fight against a lowly bandit.

It’s easier said than done, but with the help of these essential tips, you should be able to take Bohemia by storm and show this new region what the people of Rattay are all about.

15Save Smart, Save Often

One thing you should know about the Kingdom Come Deliverance franchise is that the game wants to make even the most routine RPG actions bothersome for players, and saving the game falls into that category.

Players will have limited ways to save the game, as the player can only save the game by sleeping in an owned bed, pushing a questline forward in a significant way, or drinking an alcoholic beverage called Savior Schnapps.

This means that if you are out exploring and you haven’t got a tipple with you, you’ll be in danger of losing a lot of progress.

Thankfully, you’re able to brew your own Savior Schnapps via the Alchemy system in the game, but as they say, to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail.

14Get Your Horse, Get Your Dog

In KCD2, you’ll almost immediately come to understand two things: it’s a real disadvantage to not have a companion alongside you, as two-on-one fights can spell your demise. And secondly, traveling from one place to another on foot arguably sucks even more.

For the first little while, there’s next to nothing you can do about that, and you’ll need to struggle on. However, you can work towards remedying both situations, as there are two quests that allow you to reclaim your dog and your horse.

Trading With Innkeeper In KCD2

So, you should initially focus on the quests Wedding Crashers and Mutt, as this will lead you to the wolf pack that your dog has inadvertently become a part of and also lead you to the horse trader trying to peddle your horse.

When completing wedding crashers, choose to help the Blacksmith, as they will send you to Semine, where your horse is waiting for you.

13Stay Humble, To Begin With

One thing KCD2 establishes early, if you step out of line, is that you are not some deity, nor are you a super soldier or a revered knight. You are handy with a blade and have some basic skills, but you’re not exactly a Dragonborn.

This means that in a fair fight, you’ll likely come off second-best. If you say something controversial, you’ll likely lose reputation or aggravate whoever you’re speaking to, and if you act above your station in a new town, the guards will happily take you down a peg.

So, at least until you have upped your skills, got to grips with the depth of systems on offer, and completed a few quests to keep your bearings. You should keep your head down, be agreeable, and really consider what response in conversation will give the best outcome.

12Save Up Your Gloschen

One of the biggest hardships you will have in the early game is earning enough Gloschen to survive, let alone thrive. You’ll begin proceedings with nothing, and with the items you have, you might just have enough to trade to afford room and board at a local inn.

So, when you have an opportunity to make some Gloschen, you should grab it with both hands. These opportunities won’t always be forthcoming, and will require you to take a few risks to reap the rewards, but fortune favors the brave.

Initially, I would suggest completing side quests and seeking work to earn some Gloschen, heading out into the world to find bandits, or game that will have loot and meat you can sell.

Or if you’re feeling lucky, you could play some Dice to gamble your way to unparalleled riches.

11Seek Out Advanced Combat Training

When you are released from the stocks in Trozkowitz, you should make a point of speaking to the local beggar, Bara, as they will lend a sympathetic ear and provide some exciting leads that you’re able to chase down.

Some of these leads are rather vague, and you’ll need to get a little more concrete info from elsewhere, but one that you can act on straight away is their tip on the location of Tomcat, a superhuman warrior who will be more than willing to teach you advanced combat techniques.

These techniques allow you to perform more technical combos when in battle, and this can be the difference between clearing out a bandit camp single-handedly, and being humiliated by the weakest within their ranks.

Note: As you might expect, Tomcat won’t teach you these skills for free, and some of the advanced training options will cost you a cool 500 Gloschen. So, you’ll need to save some cash to learn these skills. In short, don’t go rushing out there until you have some coin.

10Eat From Every Food Pot

As this RPG doubles up as a survival game, players will need to monitor their hunger levels intently or suffer the debuffs and eventual death that come with starvation.

you may go out of your way to purchase food from merchants, or dry out meat to take with you on excursions in bulk, but I have found that the easiest way to survive is by making the most of the many food pots dotted around the map.

These are little cauldrons with stew brewing made by various NPCs around Bohemia, and if you have access to one or are able to steal some food without angering anyone, you should always fill your belly.

There should always be at least three portions in the pot, which will usually take you well over 100 Nourishment. So, grab a spoon and eat until you see the bottom of the pot.

9Get Some Decent Armor

When the game takes the leash off and allows you to roam the region, you’ll have no armor on at all, having spent the night in the stalks.

However, even when you to stick on some garb, it’s not going to give you a tonne of protection, as your Armor was left down by the pond.

So, you have two options to get yourself some decent protection. you may either save up your Gloschen and head to the blacksmith who can set you up with some decent armor. Or, you can head out into the wild, pick a fight with a bigger boy, and steal their armor.

The better of the two, and the quicker of the two, is to chance your arm against a bandit. The gear you get won’t be a huge step up, but it’s certainly better than trying to conquer the region in casual clothes.

8Always Pack A Torch

One of the things that KCD fans love about the series is the attention to detail, and casual fans will be surprised by how many little things need to be taken on board just to survive in this world.

One of these is that players will always need a torch handy if they want to avoid getting into all sorts of trouble.

This can come in two forms, as it is illegal in the game to walk around town at night without the use of a torch, and if you don’t comply, you’ll likely end up getting arrested.

However, it’s also common sense, because if night falls in the forest and you have no torch, you’re effectively playing blind, as it’s literally pitch black. This can lead to issues with the local wildlife, or worse, a bandit patrol.

7Spend Your Perk Points

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 definitely does a much better job than its predecessor of onboarding players and making the deep systems manageable and understandable for newcomers.

However, some aspects of the game are better signposted than others, and one aspect of the game that you may have missed entirely is that you will earn perk points with each level, which you can invest into certain perks and buffs.

This is like any other traditional RPG, but the game doesn’t give you any obvious push notifications when in menus to spend your points.

So, you’ll want to head over to the ‘player’ tab, and then you can invest points into any perks that you meet requirements for. Believe me when I say that investing in enough of these skills early on will make your time getting to grips with KCD2 a lot easier.

6Blacksmith Vs Miller

When completing your first proper story quest ‘Wedding Crashers’, you’ll have the option to seek work from one of two people. The Miller South of Semine, or the Blacksmith in Tachov. Both are fine starting quests, and you’ll learn a lot of foundation skills that will serve you well.

However, if you’re in a rush to push the story forward and want to take on the easier, or more lucrative task of the two, you’ll want to head to Tachov.

It’s closer to Trozkowitz, it will send you to the area where you’ll get your horse back, it will allow you to practice combat, and you’ll get some nice bits of gear and loot from the quest alongside Semine’s guard.

You will need to also go on a quest to find the Hermit’s broken sword, but both quests are simple in comparison to Miller’s stealth-based quest. So, go with the Blacksmith, and then do the Miller’s quest another time.
