Helldivers 2andLast Epochmay be starkly different games, but both seem to be sharing the fate of success in similar ways. Upon launch,Last Epochquickly started struggling with server issues, not letting new players jump into the experience right away.
This was acknowledged by the game’s director and founder, Judd Cobler. In a letter and acknowledgment for everything that’s been going on, Judd has spoken about the many difficulties the game’s unexpected popularity is facing at the moment.

In a recentReddit post, The director thanked the community for taking a keen interest in the game and showing up at prime time. The heartfelt letter thanks everyone for wanting to jump into the game, but also pays attention to ongoing issues that will be fixed over soon.

Judd Colber has talked about how several people from the team have been at the front end of things trying to make sure the game can handle the load mentioned that :
This did mean that all of our scale testing efforts were immediately put to the test, and unfortunately a service failed in a way that we didn’t suspect, and we immediately went to work to investigate and resolve it. Many people just played offline and this didn’t bother them, but many of course want to play online (me included).
So, it looks like the devs are working hard to fix these temporary issues to finally give fans the MMO treatment they deserve. So far, even with these minor hiccups, the game seems to be promising as a new entry into the massive MMO landscape.

Helldivers 2may feel innovative and exciting at first, but there are a lot of mechanics and core gameplay loops that seem familiar. A third-person roguelike in a sci-fi world that doesn’t take itself too seriously? We may have seen this before. Yet, the game manages to mix these different aspects into something thatfeels addictive and uniqueevery time you play it.

Similarly,Last Epochbuilds on the legacy of MMORPG titles that came before it. Especially the likes ofDiablo,Path of Exile, and more. In that regard, it could have easily been a missed shot. Fortunately, that’s not the case.
The game’s reviews are mostly positive, and players are seemingly excited to see what’s next. In the meantime, there are several minor bugs and server issues that need to be taken care of. However, beyond this, there’s a lot for the game to thrive on.
