Being in an actual courtroom can be quite dreadful, with all the complicated jargon and boring cases, you’d probably doze off. EnterSuits, a TV show that does high-stakes corporate law drama like no other! At the center of it, we have the dynamic duo of Harvey Specter portrayed by Gabriel Macht, and Mike Ross by Patrick J. Adams.

The latter’s exit from season 7, marked the end of an era and left the fans with a mix of sadness and admiration. Let’s see what Adams has to say about this decision, and did he ever plan to return?
Patrick J. Adams on why he leftSuitsfor the narrative and the character
Patrick J. Adams’ Mike Ross was a brilliant college dropout with a photographic memory. He did his best to thrive in the cutthroat world of corporate law and ultimately succeeded. So the decision for his departure wasn’t made lightly. As per Adams’ interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, he simply felt like it was time for him to step away:
I had this voice in my head that said that we’ve told his story and if he hangs out longer, Mike is just going to be another lawyer on television. That didn’t feel right for him.

When I looked at the work I was doing, Mike had gone from a brilliant burnout to a certified lawyer engaged to the woman of his dreams. It felt like we’d come full circle.
The storyline led to Mike’s release from prison, and then he began to focus on pro-bono cases, so the actor struggled to understand what was ahead for his character now. After he had a conversation with the creator, they both agreed that it was indeed the right time to end Mike’s journey.

Patrick J. Adams’ balanced life, return toSuits, and future projects
Beyond Patrick J. Adams’ consideration for the narrative and Mike Ross, he also had personal reasons for leavingSuits.Filming the show demanded a lot from his personal life, and he spoke about being away from his home and family for nearly eight years. So maybe Adams wanted to slow down and spend some quality time with his loved ones.
Fans were thrilled to know that Adams was open to returning to the show. If at all the story demands it in the future, and he gets the opportunity to play Mike Ross again, the actor would be happy to do so, as he feels indebted to what the show has given him.

I’ve said my goodbyes to Mike and to Suits, but I never close any door. When the time comes, if it felt like it was the right thing to do, I’d definitely be open to it. I’ve loved and cherished my time on this show, and the past seven years have been some of the most challenging and transformational years of my entire life.
So, he didreturn for the final seasonand wrapped up his character’s arc by engaging in a case against Harvey Specter and Samantha Wheeler. Lastly, the actor has expressed his interest in working behind the camera, possibly taking on a leadership role.

Patrick J. Adams Admitted Suits isn’t Peak Cinema But People Watch it Because It Has Something Better to Offer
For now, he is filming other projects and enjoying some creative freedom. But fans hope to see him again as the witty lawyer in the upcoming spin-off, even years after bidding farewell to the character.
