So, we all know that Robert Downey Jr. is going to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom. However, Josh Brolin, who portrayed the role of Thanos, is also willing to come back as the Mad Titan in the MCU.
With the cinematic universe not being big enough for both of them, there is one easy way to solve this dilemma. Josh Brolin’s Thanos can simply become the good guy! Well, not exactly theAvengers: EndgameThanos, but a variation of the OG character. A variant, if you will.
Josh Brolin Wants To See Thanos Return to the MCU
It was the year 2019 when the world sawJosh Brolin’sThanos and his armies getting erased out of existence. This marked the last appearance of Brolin as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe… yet.
In a recent interview, the actor revealed toColliderthat he would like to see Thanos return to the MCU. Although the actor had one particular condition for his return, Brolin clarified that he would be willing to do anything to return to the iconic world of superheroes and aliens.

The actor had revealed that if the storyline was sensible enough for Thanos to come back, he would reprise the role in a heartbeat. Although it hasn’t been confirmed whether Thanos is making a return or not, we have the logical storyline ready.

How Josh Brolin’s Thanos Can Return to the MCU
To be perfectly candid, it wouldn’t exactly be the Thanos that the world saw inAvengers: Endgame(since he turned to dust and all). However, it could be a Thanos variant from another universe that could make his entry into the MCU.
The theory states that a variant of Thanos from another universe will drop into the main universe. This variant, however, is not a bad guy and will actually ally himself with the Avengers to win against Victor Von Doom.
With Von Doom wanting to create absolute chaos and be the ruler of the Multiverse, this theory makes sense because Thanos has a love for the universe. Remember, all the wars he fought were to protect the resources that the universe had to offer.
