Oscars or the Academy Awards are the most prestigious awards that are given to the stars of movies for their extraordinary performance in a movie during the year. Being nominated for an Oscar is also no short of an achievement itself as you have to compete with the most successful movies of the year for the award.
Every year, the nomination list of the Academy Awards comes as a surprise to many fans as their favorite movies or stars are left out of the nominations, and this year, the biggest shocker was the exemption of Emerald Fennel’s iconic psychological thriller movieSaltburnfrom the nominations.

Saltburndid not receive even a single nomination at the Oscars
Saltburnrevolves around the story of a master manipulator and psychotic murderer, Oliver Quick, portrayed byBarry Keoghan, who manipulates a whole family into destroying themselves. In the movie, Oliver Quick and Felix Catton portrayed byJacob Elordiattend the University of Oxford together.
After being manipulated by Oliver, Felix invites him to his family’s country house, Saltburn, to spend the summer together. However, Oliver Quick is a very disturbed and psychotic person who manages to get close to Felix Catton’s parents and then kills Felix, and manipulates his sister to kill herself.
Years down the line, after Felix’s father also passes away, Oliver returns to Saltburn and stays with Felix’s widowed mother. Later, he acquires the ownership of the house and all of Catton’s family fortune by murdering his mother as well and the movie ends with Oliver dancing naked around the entire country house of Saltburn.

Rosamund Pike and Barry Keoghan were nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor respectively at the Golden Globe Awards for their roles in the movie. However, things did not go in favor of Fennel’s psychological thriller movie at the Oscars. Despite the movie being a massive critical success,Saltburndid not manage to get even a single nomination at the Oscars.

Oppenheimerreceived the most Oscar nominations this year
A lot of amazing movies came out last year but Christopher Nolan’s epic biographical drama thriller movie,Oppenheimerwas always the center of talks throughout the year. Other than being a massive critical and commercial success,Oppenheimereven scored at the Golden Globe Awards after it won 4 Awards out of the 8 Award categories it was nominated in. And, it seems like their winning form might just continue at the Oscars as well.Oppenheimerreceived the most nominations at the Oscars this year as it went on to have 13 nominations.
