However, leading the latter along with serving as the executive producer, proved to be incredibly stressful and tormented her, as she described it as one of the hardest years of her life even causing her to opt for therapy for the first time ever.

The show was canceled after two seasons. However, going through the filming of Season 2 was not an easy feat for the actress. Cuoco opened up about her stressful experience of filming Season 2 of the show in an interview withVariety.

“It was one of the hardest years of my life,”she said, explaining how her professional and personal life, both left her in distress. The intense stress before and while filming the show left the Emmy-nominated actress with a persistent stress rash that lasted for three months.

I was going through so much right before we started shooting. It was horrible. And I developed a stress rash that ran all the way down my body for three straight months that wouldn’t go away. I literally, like, had fire on my leg for three months. I could barely walk.

Things got so intense that Cuoco had to seek therapy at the beginning of Season 2.“It was the first time that I started therapy,”she said during the interview, noting how her co-star Zosia Mamet also moved in with her to offer support during a difficult period.

Further in her conversation with Variety, Cuoco shared that she had to perform many emotionally intense and dark scenes for the show. And the lack of any lighter moments made the experience for her emotionally challenging.

I was really losing my mind. And then so many of these scenes were so hard to do because they were so hateful, so sad, and so dark, and there wasn’t a lot of levity.

It was Zosia Mamet, co-starring as her best friend Annie in the series, whoprovided crucial supportduring a time when she felt the loneliest in her life.“Zosia [Mamet], my co-star, moved in with me. I really needed someone with me,”she shared.

The Big Bang Theorystar openly acknowledged her struggles amid her divorce from her ex-husband Karl Cook. The couple announced their split in 2021 after three years of marriage and finalized their divorce in 2022.

“It was really a super dark time. I just didn’t know how to deal with it,”she shared. Cuoco revealed that she reached out to her producers for help while filming, as her challenges became increasingly overwhelming.
