Kate Middleton has been a hot topic of discussion ever since she went into abdominal surgery in January 2024. Following her long absence from the public eye, the Princess of Wales became a subject of wild speculations regarding her health and whereabouts. These opinions reached a massive crescendo when Middleton’s Mother’s Day picture grabbed eyeballs which the Princess later admitted, had been edited.

Now, with the shocking news of Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, most viewers are forced to eat their words including some of  the hosts ofThe View, except for Whoopi Goldberg who proved her wisdom with her support for the Princess.

Before Kate Middleton took to theRoyals’ official Instagram pageto post the heartfelt video detailing her cancer diagnosis, she received immense backlash from all corners of the world. The Princess’ Mother’s Day photo garnered a lot of controversy which let to Middleton revealing that it had been edited.

On one side, her conspicuous absence following surgery was being discussed in detail with extreme speculations of her being in a coma. On the other side, her admission of the doctored picture gave viewers fresh fodder to make judgments about her. This included celebrities like the hosts ofThe View-Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Following the picture revelation, the anchors went on to analyze Middleton’s actions in great detail and were also critical about her decisions to edit the photo as well as admitting to doing it. But one veteran host Whoopi Goldberg wanted no part of this.

In the episode ofThe View,Goldberg’s words of wisdom made her co-hosts look inwards and recognize that they, like everyone else in the world, had fallen into this deadly trap of judgment.

“It’s our fault. It’s our fault because we bought into this. When you buy into this stuff, when they start doing it to your family, or they start doing it to your kids, it’s not cute, it’s not fun, and it really irritates me.”

One spectator named Brian Wilson who was present on the show, spoke toEntertainment Weeklyabout what went down that day. According to Wilson, an argument had cropped up between 3 members of the audience after one of them was seen filming the show despite knowing that this was not allowed on the set. In addition, he was also distracting the others by blocking their view.

When the situation started getting a little out of hand, Goldberg who was in the middle of the recording, noticed this confrontation and immediately went up to tell the man that he must stop recording and allow others to enjoy the show. Her respectful but firm tone worked wonders and the veteran received loud claps for her action.
