Fans Not Impressed WithYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-ManDespiteX-Men ‘97Similarities
While the MCU struggles to find its previous glory, Marvel Animation seems to be on the rise as it recently delivered the hit showX-Men ‘97. Colman Domingo Could Not Replace Jonathan Majors as Kang But He Did Find a Place in Marvel Universe With a Huge Spider-Man Project
The web-slinger is the center of Marvel’s (Sony’s) attention most of the time and the cameo in the show got fans excited for an animated revival of any of the past series. While that may still happen (never say never with Marvel), fans could rejoice with the upcoming showYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Marvel announced an update about the show (previously titledSpider-Man: Freshman Year)and debuted the first look footage at the D23 Expo. While the theme music and some visuals were appreciated, fans seemed to be disappointed with the look,

The animation looks good overallMy problem with this is actually the background. It doesn’t look detailed at all.. i noticed it instantly. The way the characters move is OKAY. I like their impressions and movementspic.twitter.com/iWNqSVbS8F
Kind of looks like a video game. Idk if you’ve heard or played hi-fi rush, but it looks exactly like thatpic.twitter.com/VnLxKi6K9a

It looks like it has some uncanny valley type animation in their movements
Dont think its finished

WhileX-Men ‘97’s design too was inspired by the ‘90s animated show, fans seemed to be unimpressed withYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The show’s design and style were set to resemble the earlyThe Amazing Spider-Mancomics and would even follow Peter’s early comic book routes (viaDeadline).
Marvel Animation Head PraisedYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s Ensemble
At a time when films likeSpider-Man: Into the Spider-verseand its sequels pushed the boundaries of animation, fans expected a better-looking show from the MCU, which seems to have all the resources in hand. However, Marvel Animation head Brad Winderbaum mentioned that the heart of the show lay in its ensemble set of characters.
“Why is this not canceled yet”: Marvel Fans Have One Major Problem With Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man That Can Not be Fixed
With characters such as Norman Osborne, Doctor Strange, Lonnie Lincoln, Otto Octavius, Daredevil, and Nico Minoru, among others, set to appear, the ensemble is quite exciting indeed. Winderbaum said on theOfficial Marvel Podcast,
There are twists and turns in that show that are amazing, but the real power is the ensemble, is the neighborhood…[showrunner Jeff Trammell has] amped that up in such a major way playing with characters like — not just Peter Parker — Nico Minoru, Lonnie Lincoln, my personal favorite, Harry Osborn, and others that flesh out this teenage ensemble.

While connected to the MCU, the show will reportedly be set in an alternative timeline where Peter Parker is mentored by Norman Osborne instead of Tony Stark.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manis set to premiere on Disney Plus approximately on November 2.
