It’s an exciting time forPokemon GO’sPVP players when new Pokemon get added into the game.
When it happens, it has the opportunity to shake up the game’s meta, meaning more variety and fresh opportunities to move up the ranks.

The latest new Pokemon to join the came come courtesy of the yearlyHalloween eventand include Trevenant, Galarian Slowking and Gourgeist, which itself comes in four different sizes.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at if Gourgeist is good in PVP, if its different sizes have an impact and what its best moveset is, should you choose to use it.
Is Gourgeist Good in Pokemon GO?
Like Trevenant, Gourgeist has a dual typing of Ghost and Grass.
This means it shares its resistances against Fighting, Normal, Electric, Grass, Ground and Water-type moves, however, it does also suffer from the same weaknesses to Dark, Fire, Flying, Ghost and Ice-type moves.
However, does this mean that it performs as well as Trevenant overall? Sadly not, although thatwas a tough ask.
In the Great League, according to PVPoke, Gourgeist is the 62nd best choice, provided it’s a Super Size one, dropping down to 96th for a Small Size one. Despite being as low as 96th, Gourgeist can still fit into the meta, with big wins against Medicham, Azumarill, Galarian Stunfisk, Swampert and Deoxys.
In the Ultra League, Gourgeist puts in a similar performance, coming in between 61st and 83rd place. Again, it has the opportunity to make an impact, beating the likes of Swampert, Cresselia, Melmetal and Togekiss.
Like Trevenant, Gourgeist does fall short in the Master League, ranking from 16st to 313th. If you’re going to use it, stick to the Great or Ultra Leagues.
Overall, while Gourgeist puts in a respectable performance, Trevenant is generally far superior. If you focus on catching one during the second part of the Halloween event, you should place your attention on the tree.
