More than a decade after becoming a household name in the entertainment industry through his performance as Eggsy in the action/comedy masterpieceKingsman: The Secret Service, Taron Egerton is continuing to make big splashes in the very genre that launched him to recognition in Hollywood. With thrills and suspension, it did have quite a few viewers at the edge of their seats and broke a few Netflix records.
As shared by@DiscussingFilm on X, within days of its release, the movie seems to be “becoming the biggest Netflix film of 2024.” That’s not all; besides this, the flick is also “tracking to potentially break into Netflix’s top 10 most watched original films ever.” Then there’s its rated-fresh 88% critical score onRotten Tomatoes, which might as well deem it a critical success.
But fans and general viewers don’t seem to be all that enchanted with the piece. If anything, they appear to be finding one too many flaws in it as they point out the plot holes in the same. For one,r/sylviaca— “as someone who travels frequently” — took to Reddit to share their opinion, writing, “Ok, I know you’re supposed to suspend disbelief and all but damn is this bad.”

The Redditor then pointed out some of “all the bad plot holes” they noticed in the movie, starting with how there was only a single TSA agent on a baggage line “when there are typically 3 or 4.” Then there was the fact that they randomly shut down the bag check line and all the bag checking and walked away for quite some time, “for who knows how long.”
Continuing, they then targeted “the sniper. I don’t even know where to begin with this guy and his van” and shed light on the corny dialogue, like, “Sir, this is a restricted area.” In fact, the Redditor even claimed that this was their review while they weren’t even 2/3rds of the way through, and that “I’m going to pause for a big glass of wine to get [through the rest of the film].”
Needless to say,this review of the filmin parts in itself is critical enough to make the rest of the viewers who haven’t already seen the movie think twice about their decision to watch it. But what’s even more surprising is that a lot of other fans are backing up this review as well, raising the question that the film might not be as good as its record-breaking status establishes it as.

On the one hand, while critics seem to deem it watch-worthy, on the other hand, fans aren’t hesitating to call out this Christmas movie for all its flaws. For one, even the general audience score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter is deeming the flick to be a rotten one with a 54% approval score that stands as a major contrasting figure to its 88% critical approval score.
Then there are all the critical and sarcastic reviews fans are sharing on Reddit, which further seems to be questioning thisJason Batemanfilm’s watchworthiness.
Well, all of these reviews are more than enough to emphasize that both the acting as well as these glaring plotholes seem to be making Taron Egerton’s exclusive piece rank so low among a considerable part of the fandom. At the same time, if the viewers are looking for a Christmas movie to watchjust for fun, then they might as well make do with this one too.
