Ace filmmaker Martin Scorsese is regarded as one of the major filmmakers of the New Hollywood era putting out some exceptional movies out there for the audience. Scorsese’s style of direction includes extensive use of slow motion and freeze frames, graphic depictions of extreme violence and more, which has mostly managed to impress the critics and the audience over the years.

Martin Scorsese says cinema was never meant to be ‘one thing’
During a press conference held at the Berlin Film Festival, where filmmakerMartin Scorsesewas set to receive an Honorary Golden Bear, shared his views on modern-day cinema. He was asked if he thinks that the cinema is dying, the filmmaker said viaVariety,
“I don’t think it’s dying at all, no. I think it’s transforming. It never was meant to be one thing. We were used to it being one thing. I grew up with cinema as one thing; if you wanted to see a movie you went to a theater. A good theater or a bad theater, but it was a theater. It was always a communal experience.”
Martin Scorsese noted that technology is changing so rapidly and exhaustedly, that in a sense the only thing one can hold on to is an individual’s voice. He continued that the voice can express itself on a TikTok a four-hour film or even a two-hour miniseries.
The filmmaker also reminded the audience that despite the domination and threat that AI poses, one shouldn’t be scared of technology mentioning that people should not be slave to it. He suggested that individuals should learn how to control the technology and put it in the right direction. He was also asked about his movie revolving Jesus to which he said,
“What kind of film I’m not quite sure, but I want to make something unique and different that could be thought-provoking and I hope also entertaining.”
The filmmaker shared that after he’s done with promotional activity forKillers of the Flower Moon, then maybe he’d get some sleep and wake up with a fresh idea on how to proceed.

Martin Scorsese honored with the Golden Bear Award at 74th Berlinale
Filmmaker Martin Scorsese was honored with the honorary Golden Bear award at the 74th Berlinale and during the presentation, his recent releaseKillers of the Flower Moon’s soundtrack was accompanied by clips of the filmmakers’ work. Scorsese’s daughter Francesca stood by his side as the festival’s executive director Mariette Rissenbeek and artistic director Carlo Chatrian offered kind words for him.
Director Wim Wenders presented the award to the filmmaker with kind words describing his seven decades of work. Martin Scorsese finally took the stage and thanked everyone at the festival before adding a special thank you for Wenders. The filmmaker continued viaTHR,
“As far as my own films, I don’t know what I can say about 50 and 60 years of work, I cannot do it without talking about the place film is celebrated which is festivals. I really feel blessed to have been a part of the conversation for most of my life. I cannot talk about my work. Maybe Wim can.”

Steven Spielberg, Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, and Wim Wenders have also been the recipients of the Golden Bear Lifetime Achievement Award. Martin Scorsese’sKillers of the Flower Moonhas been nominated for ten Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor Best Costume Design, Original Song and Score, Best Production Design, Edition, and Cinematography.
