Yoshiro Togashi is an absolute genius! He already blew everyone’s minds withYu Yu Hakusho, butHunter x Hunterjust brought him to a whole new level, especially when it comes to foreshadowing.

Surely,One Piecefans love to brag about the sneaky Easter Eggs in the series, butHunter x Huntermight have them beat with one major foreshadowing that was expertly teased way back in one of the earlier arcs.
It is simply mind-boggling to know how much foresight went into creating this particular piece of information. One cannot help but wonder about Togashi’s skill in sneaking in those tiny clues and yet seamlessly integrating them into the narrative.

Hunter x Hunter’sinsane foreshadowing with the Pot of Greed!
Recently, someone pointed out a very interesting fact aboutYoshihiro Togashi’ssharp insight,on a certain Reddit post. The post was of a screenshot from the Yorknew City arc, of a fake vase by Zepile from knockoff stores. In fact, this seemingly inconsequential item, seen in episodes 42-43 of the 2011 anime adaptation, was actually a foreshadowing for later on that no one really noticed!
The vase may just bea masterful example of Togashi’s foreshadowing skills: hinting at the introduction of the Pot of Greed, a very crucial item from the Greed Island arc.

Same Reason Why Chimera Ant Arc is a Masterpiece Makes Hunter x Hunter a Yoshihiro Togashi Borefest in Future Arcs
It is a major plot point that first emerged in Chapter 87, but Togashi has woven this visual thread throughout the story and shown once again the sheer magnitude of his storytelling abilities. But, how much significance there is about this particular foreshadowing?
The possible significance of this foreshadowing!
The Pot of Greed holdsa larger significance beyond its purposeas a plot device; it speaks to the intricacies of world-building that conductsHunter x Hunter. In fact, the vase that was seen at first could just be a fake one, as Zepile’s knock-off vases are from Kakin, a country cut off from the rest of the world.
This might have increased the demand for exotics, and Zepile could sell his fake vases at a premium price.

This is rather proven through what he says in Chapter 87, mentioning that selling these vases helps him sustain himself by buying food! This minute detail reveals that there is so much in life about the harsh situation within Kakin; hence even a highly skilled like Zepile may not easily provide for his life.
Hunter x Hunter is Back Baby! Anime Series Update Confirms the Yoshihiro Togashi Masterpiece is Putting in Serious Work To Make Up for Lost Time
Though Togashi’s foresight is indeed impressive, there is a probability that the resemblance between the two pots has simply come from his experiences and knowledge about cultural artifacts. The design of the Pot of Greed and Zepile’s vase might just come from real objects, without having much significant value within the plot.
