Sony’sConcordwill go down as one of the biggest failures in the history of the gaming industry, plus, the game may have proven that Sony still hasn’t figured out the art of creating a hero shooter. Just two weeks after the launch, Sony pulled the plug and initiated refunds for players who bought the game.

Unfortunately, people who bought the physical version may struggle to refund the game, depending on the refund policy of the particular retailer from which they got the game. Recently, GameStop decided to troll a gamer on social media for buying the physical version of the game, but it turns out, the gamer purchased the game from GameStop, so the company will have to refund the game.

Sony Is Shutting Down Concord Just Two Weeks After Its Release
Sony released a statement onPlayStation.Blogannouncing the end ofConcordas players’ response to the game has been underwhelming. Sony created a lot of hype for the game but it turned out to be a complete disappointment. The statement said,
While many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended. Therefore, at this time, we have decided to take the game offline beginning June 09, 2025, and explore options, including those that will better reach our players.

So, the game is shutting down for now but Sony has claimed that they will “explore options,” so maybe in the future they will improve the game and re-release it. Right now, it is clear that Sony isn’t ready for this genre.
Concordwas released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 10, 2025, and the number ofactive players on the day of release was embarrassingly low. Sony probably made the right decision to take down the game as there’s room for improvement.

As for players who have purchased the digital version from the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, Steam, or Epic Games Store, a full refund will be initiated soon.
