Contrary to popular belief, Tite Kubo’s road to success was rather perilous. The mangaka went the extra mile for his magnum opus. The serialization is anything but easy considering the overworking and backbreaking schedule.

To top it off, it is one of the landmark series among Jump’s Big 3. Though it is often considered weak, its return after the hiatus had most critics chew their words. It was made possible because of yet another Shonen series.
Most specifically, Koyoharu Gotouge’s mangaDemon Slayerplayed a pivotal role in its kickstart. The series set a benchmark in the genre through its accolades, acclaim, popularity, and most of all, quality.

Studio Pierrot followed in its footsteps to ensureBleachgets its due and deserved recognition. This also marked Kubo’s comeback in the shonen, which is a banger.

With its top-tier animation,Demon Slayerset a benchmark in the genre of shonen. The series often gets flak for solely being carried by its animation. And though it seems plausible, it isn’t true, especially with its storyline.
The story is gripping in its exploration of the dynamic between Nezuko and Tanjiro. Like most new-age anime, it thwarts the idea of a single standalone protagonist. Both characters take center stage in the narrative.

Be it fights or revelations, Ufotable’s animation is often trolled for being thoroughly cinematic. One such case is Muzan Kibutsuji’s entry in the fourth season. Though it is overly theatrical, even fans would agree the Ufotable didn’t cut any corners while animating it.

The Studio Pierrot CEO revealed its role in kickstarting Bleach’s comeback in aninterview. He quoted:
I think that ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ was a major turning point for the anime industry. It was a high-quality work made with a generous budget and a solid amount of time, and it was a huge hit when it was broadcast, and was watched by people of a wide range of ages. Before and after ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ was released, I really felt that we had to change the way we made things. Furthermore, other studios were also releasing high-quality works on a similar scale, and in Japan there was an environment where these could be watched on commercial television.

In retrospect, it was a much-needed push for Studio Pierrot which served as a wake-up call. But on the whole, it marked Kubo’s comeback in Shonen which is a complete banger in every sense.

Tite Kubo’sjourney to success and fame was laden with trials and tribulations. Like most mangaka, he wasn’t exempt from the brutalities of the manga industry. Aside from overworking and tight schedules, he faced debilitating health.
The hiatus in 2012 was as a result of his poor health. The mangaka has cited his ignorance in many interviews. To ensure his series’ success he went the extra mile and overlooked his health on the whole.
To fans, the hiatus seemed like a permanent closure. Most fans weren’t expecting the series to get its resolution. It was in 2020 that the franchise announced the commencement of theThousand-Year Blood Wararc.
As of 2024, the series topped the charts on IMDb and is regaining its glory for good. To amp it up, Studio Pierrot isgoing all-outwith the series’ production quality and arcs. While the 10 years seem too much, Tite Kubo showed everyone how it is done.
