Makoto Yukimura’sVinland Sagahas proven to the anime industry that it is one of the most distinguished anime titles that will proudly break the stereotype of how anime is always meant to be action-packed. The action featured in the series is enthralling to the point where the viewers would sit at the edge of their seats, biting their nails in anticipation, as the Viking culture-inspired series features numerous skilled warriors.

However, Yukimura-Sensei is facing the same challenge that has hampered some of the most promising new-gen titles, such asMy Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, andAttack on Titan: a satisfying ending. Intriguingly, the mangaka has acknowledged this obstacle and has shed some light on creating an ideal ending for his magnum opus.

In the intricate world of manga and anime, the ending of a series determines its greatness. Even though a compelling start is necessary for a series to intrigue the viewers and make them emotionally invested in the story, it is the story’s finale that ensures that the Otaku community will remember it with excitement or disappointment.

Such happens to be the case withMakoto Yukimura’sVinland Saga, which has hooked the otakus with a gripping plot, featuring a great flow that focuses heavily on character growth and being more than a revenge story. Despite its slow beginning, it is not deemed bad; instead, it gives the series the perfect start, which is sewn perfectly together with its setting and howThorfinn, a jovial boy, becomes a revenge-driven teenager.

Hence, just like the manga, the anime adaptation has become a popular name among anime connoisseurs, who are taken aback by the series’ complex and interesting narrative. Thus, raising the bar among the fans, who have high hopes for the series cementing its legacy in the manga and anime industry.

Recently, the author acknowledged the problem on his official X account (@makotoyukimura) as well, where he acknowledged the daunting task that is present right in front of him and how it is the“second time”he is working on a finale. He tweeted,

“Now is actually the best time to read my work”: Makoto Yukimura Reveals the Message He Put in Vinland Saga, It Already Makes it Better Than One Piece

The serialization of Vinland Saga will end soon. But! Well, I know I’m complaining after the hiatus, but… it’s hard to end a story! Come to think of it, I’ve only drawn the final episode once. This is the second time. It’s really amazing that my predecessors were able to finish long serializations right to the end. I respect them for that alone.

Followed by the original tweet wasa threadwhere he stated how creating a ‘perfect ending’ is a myth and no matter how much he tries, it is impossible for him to give an ending that pleases everyone. He tweeted,

Vinland Saga’s season 1 finale was flawless

I aim for all readers to close the book thinking, “I’m glad I read it,” but I guess there’s no ending that satisfies everyone. People are different, after all. But I will try my best to think it through and come up with an ending that suits this story.

Though Yukimura-Sensei has recognized the challenge that lies in front of him, the fans are optimistic that he will definitely give an ending that will receive all the love in the world.

Vinland Sagafans voice their thoughts

Despite an ending being the hallmark of a series that will ensure its popularity for the years to come, the situation is not easy for the mangaka to please everyone in the fandom. However, the fans have not reacted harshly towards the opinion of the author.

Instead, they have resonated a Thorfinnesque behavior, radiating profound warmth and supporting the mangaka on the daunting task that stood right ahead of him.

Please don’t try to please everyone. It always turn bad 🙏

Please write the ending you think it’s the best for the deep meaning of the story that reflects everything you wrote from chapter 1, because some writers change their endings just to satisfy a group of the fans but in the end it turns out to be a bad ending like Attack on Titan.

I don’t think you should really care about satisfying everyone cause some just love to play devil’s advocate and will never be satisfied no matter what. However you close your work will probably satisfy people who admire and follow your work. 🙏

I have a blind faith in you master, whatever it’ll be the outcome, i’m sure i’ll love it.

Thanks for giving us this amazing manga yukimura sensei, whatever you do in the ending the people who love vinland im sure we will be satisfied 🙇🏻

We can finally witness the finale of one of the big 3 seinen, possibly the only one.Thank you for your hard work all this time… 🤝

Despite support from the community and the viewers, the manga artist has not opened up about the exact details surrounding the ending or the number of chapters that will be present in the final arc, guiding the story to its much anticipated end.
