Former broadcaster Wendy Williams is reportedly being held against her will in a treatment facility in New York, and she insisted that she’s not cognitively impaired. The star has been in conservatorship since 2022, and she has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia the following year.

Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, claimed in court filings that Williams is permanently incapacitated. Last Thursday, the TV personality made a surprise call and insisted that she’s in the right mind.
Wendy Williams asserts she’s not an incapacitated person amid conservatorship
In an interview withThe Breakfast Club, media personalityWendy Williamsand her niece Alex Finnie discussed the critical situation she’s in where she claimed she’s trapped in a luxury prison. Williams asserted that she maintains a sound mind amid allegations that she couldn’t make decisions by herself.
I am not cognitively impaired. But I feel like I am in prison. I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s, their 80s, and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.

Similarly, her niece spoke about the difficulties Williams is facing while she’s being held in the facility. She also refuted Sabrina Morrissey’s claims. Finnie said that she has seen her aunt in a very limited capacity, but she’s nowhere near the case of anincapacitated person.
The pair revealed their frustration over the inhumane living conditions Williams is enduring inside the high-security building. Finnie said her aunt isn’t getting proper sunlight, and she’s sitting in the same room all day.

Wendy Williams’ condition is like Britney Spears’ case all over again
Williams’ situation reminded people ofBritney Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, where her father controlled her finances, personal life, and medical decisions until 2021.
Back in 2008, the singer was placed on a 5150 hold after she demonstrated erratic behavior following tragic events in her life. After a Los Angeles judge terminated the guardianship, she regained autonomy and was granted access to her $60 million estate.
