The audience definitely wanted more ofBreaking Bad, but Bryan Cranston thinks it’s better not to stretch the story too long just to make another season and milk the franchise’s popularity. Created by Vince Gilligan,Breaking Badran for five seasons, and it was a major hit among fans.

More often than not, some television shows extend way beyond the necessary number of seasons to tell a story as creators believe there is still a demand just because it peaked at one point, but trying to prolong a franchise’s life when it’s supposed to be over may do it more harm than good.
Bryan Cranston Comments OnBreaking BadConcluding With Just Five Seasons
Bryan Cranstonadmitted he’s cool withBreaking Badwrapping up after five installments. He played Walter White in the show, a chemistry teacher turned drug dealer. He even won three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series so that’s indeed a major feat.
While speaking onThe Howard Stern Show, the actor talked about the series finally concluding with Season 5:

I don’t want it to end like some bullsh*t story where it’s like, ‘Oh, hey, you know what? We had the wrong charts. You’re fine. We can go on for another five years.’
Later on, Cranston claimed Walter White was the “greatest role” of his life. He believes he would never have any other job in his career much better than what he portrayed in the AMC show. It was the part that cemented his name as a Hollywood icon and earned him global fame. Indeed, the actor has become synonymous with his on-screen character.

Season 5 ofBreaking Badwas a critical hit, and it’s easy to see why. OnRotten Tomatoes, the installment garnered a 97% approval rating from the critics and a 98% score from the fans. The grand series finale even hit 10.3 million viewers, which is quite impressive.

It goes to show that the franchise kept its momentum until the ending and that fans were still invested in the story. This is what Cranston meant in his statement; he didn’t want it to end with a lame narrative that they just held on to for the sake of earning more profit.
Breaking BadWon’t Overstay Its Welcome Like Other Popular Shows
Cranston lovedBreaking Badso much he didn’t want it to suffer like other major television shows out there that overstayed their welcome. Just imagineThe Walking Deadstill clinging on for dear life even though it had its run. It also doesn’t help that AMC is still trying to revive a long-dead franchise by churning out spinoffs and sequels.
