While the MCU was making blockbusters after blockbusters in the motion picture side of things, the TV scene was taken over by Marvel Entertainment, where Netflix’sDaredevilreigned supreme. Thus, seeing the love and excitement of the fans for the decision to bring back the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in the MCU withDaredevil: Born Againwasn’t a long and risky proposition to consider.

But what is indeed long and risky is the production and execution of the aforementioned MCU show, which has now seemed to take a corrective measure to an idea from its original plan. It was recently revealed that the series had written the characters of Foggy Nelson and Karen Page to die off-screen in the first episode until Kevin Feige stepped in and scrapped the idea, saving the show.

Two Integral Characters FromDaredevil: Born AgainWere To Be Killed Off-Screen Before Kevin Feige Intervened

Among the numerous shows and miniseries that Marvel Studios has in store for the fans in the coming time, it wouldn’t be wrong to say thatDaredevil: Born Againmight just be the most anticipated one. The return ofCharlie Coxas the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen inShe-Hulk: Attorney At Lawhas done wonders for the franchise, especially since they brought back such a beloved character into the MCU.

But now, reports have also come in, which confirm that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, the stars who played the role of Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in the original NetflixDaredevilseries will be making their comeback as the aforementioned characters in the MCU. Although this may be the news that most fans wanted to hear, what they could’ve heard would’ve been saddening if Kevin Feige hadn’t stepped in.

It was reported (viaThe InSneider) that these characters were considered to be killed off-screen in the upcoming show by the development team, which would force Matt Murdock to hang his vigilante suit for a while and focus on legal hearings, turning it sort of into a court drama. When Marvel Studios PresidentKevin Feigeheard about this plan after the WGA strikes though, he was quick to shut the idea down and replace the entire team to task them to develop a new narrative.

His reason for such a drastic decision was based on the fact that the project didn’t have the same dark and gritty look that the Netflix show was loved and viewed for, along with the fact that there wasn’t as much action from Murdock as the Daredevil in the series.

What More Has Changed ForDaredevil: Born Again?

Along with that, it’s also being reported that from the eight episodes that have already been produced, six episodes are going to remain in the final product.

Another major change that will take place is the complete reshoot of the pilot episode where Page and Nelson were to be initially killed off, making the narrative fit Feige’s vision. Apart from that, it seems like the release date for the show has also been pushed further into 2025, mostly due to the WGA strikes and the changes that have been stated above.
