Kentaro Miura is known for his signaturegrittystyle inBerserk.It is partly because of his extremely hard-to-attempt art style that fans have still not received a true anime adaptation ofBerserkyet. According to Miura, he loves the dynamic art style of Nagai, which perhaps had an impact onBerserkas well.

Many fans have also pointed out pacing issues with the anime. It is not entirely faithful to the manga because it is just an inspired series. However, many fans were expecting a truer adaptation, which made people displeased when it turned out that Devilman Crybaby’s story did not resemble the original series.

Other complaints against the adaptation included late pickup of the plot and underdeveloped characters. Apparently, it did not live up to the extreme hype it was preceded by.
