Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarokcomes to all supported platforms later this week, but making a start on the highly anticipated DLC isn’t as straightforward as many fans would expect.
AsValhallais one of the most ambitiousAssassin’s Creedtitles ever released, playing the newDawn of RagnarokDLC requires players to complete a few steps before they can jump into the action.
How To Start Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok DLC
There are two ways to start the newDawn of RagnarokDLC inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. The decision you make depends on how far you’ve progressed into the main campaign, as well as what your overall level is in the game.
Dawn of Ragnarokrecommends players be at least level 340 to experience the DLC as intended. Due to this, starting the expansion can be a little tricky, with two separate routes for players to take.
Start Via Main Menu
One of the more straightforward ways to start the DLC is from the main menu ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. Using this option willNOTaffect your main campaign progress, and will keep the two stories separate.
Navigate to the main menu and select ‘New Game’, from here you will be able to choose between ‘Valhalla’ and ‘Dawn of Ragnarok’. Selecting Dawn of Ragnarok will create a separate game save where you only play the new DLC.
Players will be given a levelled up character to play as with plenty of endgame gear. But, once you completeDawn of Ragnarok, your character and gear cannot be brought over into your main campaign progress.
Start Via Completing the ‘Restless Dreams’ Quest
The second way to start theDawn of RagnarokDLC is by completing a new questline that appears once the expansion is installed. Accessing the DLC via this route requires players to have made a fair amount of progress in the main campaign, reaching at least level 340 before you beginDawn of Ragnarok.
Once the DLC is installed, players can navigate to the Ravensthorpe section in their Quest Log to find the Restless Dreams mission. This takes players back to England where they awake under a tree. they must then complete a few missions for Valka beforeDawn of Ragnarokcan begin.
After you complete the ‘Wise Friends’ quest for Valka, a new quest titled ‘In Dreams’ will become available, but this is part of the main campaign and not necessary to start the new DLC. Instead, players will want to continue their progress with the Restless Dream quest. Part of which will require players to prepare a ritual. Simply place the mistletoe around the ritual circle - the location of which should be marked in the game - to begin theDawn of RagnarokDLC.
Accessing the DLC via this route allows players to keep any loot and gear that they may find inDawn of Ragnarokfor their main campaign progress.
