But before you do that, here are some basic yet effective combos that can not only take out the squishy duelists but also help you fight off 1v1 Vanguards.
So these are some important offensive strategies that can help you out in most situations.
Venom Defensive Strategies
Venom is a huge character, so it is very easy for the enemies to target you. Especially if you start dominating the fights and getting multiple kills.
The good news is that Venom’s kit is equipped for such situations. But, the catch is the long cooldown times on his abilities.
So, to master Venom, the main thing you need to do is strategize your fights around your abilities. Here are some defensive techniques that can help you out when you find yourself in trouble.
Venom Team-Up Abilities

Venom gives Spider-Man and Peni Parker a part of his symbiote. Using this symbiote-ability lets them both convert their part of the symbiote into constantly protruding spikes. These spikes damage nearby enemies and can also drive them back.

Venom being able to share his symbiote with his “spider buddies” makes a lot of sense in this game, especially from a lore standpoint.
Both Spider-Man’s Suit Expulsion and Peni’s Armor Expulsion work in the same fashion. So, if your duo or a teammate knows how to use both of these heroes, they can easily switch between the two as per the role needed by your team.
Incidentally, both Spider-Man and Peni also have abilities that can crowd control and immobilize their target. So, the best way to use this team-up is to immobilize the enemy and use primary attacks along with the team-up to chip away at the enemy’s health faster.
Situationally, fighting someone near the edge of some map where it is possible to throw them off, immobilizing the enemy, and using the team-up can let Spider-Man or Peni push them off the map.
Venom Counters & How To Deal With Them
Just likeThor, Venom is a pretty well-rounded character. If anything, he is more defensive for a dive tank. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any weaknesses.
Enemies that can do burst damage or crowd control can be very problematic to deal for Venom. When playing him, you can expect the enemies to switch to characters likeHawkeye,Hela,Winter Soldier,Punisher,orIron Man.
A good Hawkeye can melt Venom with consistent headshots. Winter Soldier can also deal a significant amount of damage when targeting Venom’s head. But, while his damage may not be as much as what Hawkeye can do, Winter Soldier can isolate Venom from his team using his Bionic Hook.
Duelists like Hela and Punisher can keep Venom occupied with consistent damage. The Punisher with his shotgun doesn’t have to be worried about getting jumped by a Venom. Meanwhile, Hela and Iron Man can chip away Venom’s health with steady ranged attacks.
As for Vanguards, Venom should be careful when fighting heroes likePeniorDr Strange. Dr Strange can block Venom’s attacks with his shield unless you are super close or attacking him from behind. Meanwhile, Peni can immobilize Venom with her Cyber-web Snare.
The best way to counter these heroes is to keep moving. Instead of committing to a 1v1 against heroes that you are most likely going to lose against. You can use Venom’s abilities to poke damage, leave the fight to get healed, and join in again.
You can also ping your team about the enemies that you want eliminated. When the enemy is too focused on you. It gives the duelists in your team a chance to flank them.
Best Team Comps With Venom
For Venom, the duelists that work best with him areSpider-Manand thePunisher. Spider-Man is an optimal pick, thanks to their team-up ability. Also, both Venom and Spider-Man are characters with high mobility and lots of melee attacks. It can become a bit chaotic for the enemy team to target them.
If you are looking for some stable and consistent damage, then the Punisher is an excellent pick that you can’t go wrong with. His primary fire and Culling Turret are great options when you need someone in your team to take fights from a safe distance.
For vanguards, it is preferable that you have an extra tank when playing as Venom. So, the ones that pair well with him arePeni ParkerandHulk.
The Armor Expulsion team-up ability is just one of the many reasons why she complements Venom well. She can also play the role of a “traditional tank” to hold the objective. So, she can set up traps and webs to keep the enemy from taking the objective. While Venom can pick off enemy healers and duelists.
As for Hulk, he can help the team by giving everyone shields. So, in a situation where you get eliminated by the enemies, With Hulk as your backup, it won’t be very easy for the enemy to take back the objective.
